  • Wow! I loved it!

Jamie seems like he's out to get Lois. She tries and tries to beat him, but it seems he can't lose. After a near-death experience, Lois feels vulnerable, so Hal encourages her to be strong. They call Francis to help her remember how she got strict in the first place. Malcolm, Dewey and Reese find a diving board and want to do something awesome with it, but they can't think of anything.

This episode was great! Jamie is really sneaky and smart! I can't believe Reese's stunt! I was glad to see Francis in this episode! This episode gets a 10 out of 10!moreless
  • Jamie is even more powerful than the other brothers!

Really cool episode! Jamie finally is winning the battle against Lois, so Lois decides that she can't take it anymore and decides to give up, but later Hal and Lois called Francis in order to help him remember how was Lois able to take on the four children. Meanwhile, Malcolm, Reese, and Dewey find a trampolin and they can't decide anything to do with it, until Malcolm seemed to have the perfect thing.moreless
  • Great Episode containing everything a Malcolm-Fan expects

This was a hilarious episode which started out a little disappointing but turned out to be soo great:

The boys and their diving board and what they would want to do with it, the fight between Lois and baby Jamie, who is as it turns out in the end, on energy drinks Reese is giving to him (Woever else..) and Francis recounting his childhood memories (Lois as a patient mom who can't say no to "cute litte Francis" and Hal as the Hardliner, I never thought i'd live to see the Episode).

Finally Reese "last" act of stupidity, although I think he will never stop messing around, was the highlight of the episode, I was a little disappointed that it went wrong but it was funny anyways. (Dewey: "Should we get the hoes?" Malcolm: "No, he would have wanted us to wait")moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • At the beginning of the episode when Hal thinks he won the lottery and is about to quit his job, he is about to admit that he was responsible for a burrito that exploded in the work microwave five years ago. Hal only got his new job recently. He definitely hasn't been working there for five years.

    • In the past, Lois and Hal had the exact opposite personalities they have now. Hal was strict while Lois was soft.

    • Lois first became strict when little Francis put lighter fluid on his teddy bear. She got worried about his safety and said she will do anything to keep him safe because she loves him.

    • Malcolm has no "internal speech" in this episode.

    • (This applies to the German dubbed version)

When Reese is going to perform the stunt, jumping from the diving board with the fireworks, Malcolm says that they'll record it on camera and broadcast it live on

This site really exists, but contains a filler page.

    • When Lois is in the bathtub talking with Hal, the washcloth on her forehead disappears and reappears between cuts.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Lois: (about Jamie) He is absolutely the worst kid we've ever had.
Hal: Oh, you say that with every kid. Let's face it, Lois, it's just the hand we were dealt. God doesn't like us. That doesn't make us bad people.

    • Dewey: Jamie wasn't really spawned by Satan, was he?
Malcolm: No. If he was, we'd have a better house.

    • Reese: Maybe we're just going about this the wrong way. We have to think outside the box. (to Dewey) If you were a diving board, what would you want someone to do with you?
      Dewey: Take me ice-skating.
Reese: Don't be an idiot. That place is freezing, and it's always so crowded.
Dewey: Yeah, but they have good hot dogs.
Reese: Those hot dogs suck compared to the ones at the train station.
Dewey: Why would a diving board want to go to a train station?
Reese: How should I know? Maybe he wants to visit a relative!
Malcolm: Okay! Okay! Back in the box.

    • Dewey: (after Reese blew himself up with firecrackers) Should we get the hose?
Malcolm: No, he would have wanted us to wait!

    • Reese (to Lois): Jamie goes through 5 or 6 cans of that stuff [a caffeine-filled drink] a day! I can only stand half!

  • NOTES (4)

    • Cold Open: Hal calls his boss and is about to confess to something when Malcolm runs in and informs Hal that he hasn't won the lottery just another ticket. Hal then tells his boss that it was someone else.

    • For her performance in this episode, Jane Kaczmarek received a 2005 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
