  • A tired showing.

    6.0
This hurt to watch after the first time. The only reason I didn't rate this any lower was because I feel generous. The episode was not funny at all and I felt that it came off annoying. The comedy was stupid, the writing was boring and the plot was dumb. Who in the world cares about seeing a baby in animation graphics? Not me, but it was worthless. I can't stand Peoma and she is such a bananna. Reese is boring and I can't understand the baseball story. How did they end up there? Who knows, but it was a mess. Thank you.moreless
  • Well-crafted plot.

    8.8
By this fifth season the show had created so many characters that rather complex plots could be put together and enjoyed. Abe and Craig, wonderful comic creations, are put together with the relatively new Polly. The misunderstanding over Polly's paramours comes naturally (although an attentive viewer might have wondered why Craig needed to be in the scene of Abe and Polly meeting.) The adventures of Jamie are pure slapstick and have a funny, unexpected ending. You could gripe about the fact that the boys only play a limited role in this story. Perhaps that was just a way to keep the juvenile actors' workload to a minimum.moreless
  • Polly must choose

    8.0
Hal sets Abe up with Polly, while Lois sets Craig up with her also. Francis does not want to look like a wuss in front of his co-workers, but Piama is treating him like it. Dewey claims that he has a lucky shirt, but Malcolm wants to prove him wrong. The family visits a baseball convention. Polly comes along. Hal calls Abe and Stevie and Lois calls Craig. Polly must choose who she will date, but she chooses neither. Jamie gets lost there.

This episode was good! I don't like Abe or Craig dating anyone. It's too weird. This episode gets an 8.0 out of 10!moreless
  • Polly in the Middle!?

    8.5
Craig and Abe begin to get interest in Polly, but Hal and Lois decide not to intervene. Dewey finds his lucky shirt and Malcolm tries everything to prove that there is no thing as a lucky shirt, but every thing seems to be against him. While at the baseball convention, Polly is taking care of Jamie and is find by Craig, who Lois invites, and later by Abe, who Hal invited, and later begins a stupid fight to see who is going to have Polly with him, but in the end it turns out to be Jamie, who is saved from death thanks to Dewey's lucky shirt.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When Reese goes to burn the ant on his hand, it is clear that no ant is there.

    • Time Index 16:40 and a few seconds after. As Jamie is crawling along with the bats falling just behind him, it is clearly obvious that the effect was digitally placed. If you watch at the bottom of the screen where his knees are hitting, you can see that he seems to be slightly above the image.

    • In this episode we learn that Craig's cat died.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Polly: I'm taking Jamie to the park. We're going to look for butterflies and talk about his birth trauma.

    • Hal: Why don't you ask her out?
Abe: No, I couldn't. To be honest, I didn't even ask Kitty out. My dad asked her dad, and we gave her family a ham.

    • Polly: Thanks so much for inviting me. I really needed something to take my mind off my love life.
Hal: Well, that's why God invented baseball,... and war.

    • Malcolm: Okay, fine, you know what Dewey? Luck this (throws a ball towards Dewey and bounces off the wall hittting Malcolm between the legs. He falls down in pain) This...proves nothing.

  • NOTES (3)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Episode Title: "Polly in the Middle"

This is a spoof of the show's title, Malcolm in the Middle.

    • Family: Origin
Lois goes all crazy when she finds out that Polish-American baseball player 'Pete Buchowski' will be at the baseball convention.

This may be a hint towards her family's origin. In the previous episodes you only find out that they come from somewhere in Eastern Europe. Poland might be the place.

Besides, actress Jane Kaczmarek is also of Polish descent in real life.
