  • A waste of time.

This was a boring episode that I have seen too many times. It was okay the first time I saw it, but the re-runs have absolutely killed this. I can't say too many good things because there are hardly any good things to say. I will have to say the writing was okay, but the story was fake, the acting was average, and the comedy was barely there. The only part I liked was when Reese said that he would have to call the coffin store on the phone. Overall, this was a mediocre episode at best. That hurts now. Thank you.moreless
  • Funny!

Lois and Hal want to spend a nice, relaxing weekend away from the boys. Craig has to watch Dewey. Reese is on a bus to Canada and back and Malcolm is supposed to be at Stevie's. Reese escapes and plans a big party at home. Malcolm has a girl coming over. Dewey and Craig have a fun time together. Some guys come to Reese's party and they are doing something illegal in the garage. They get Francis to help them out, but he doesn't do much. Lois and Hal are stressed out there. Dewey tells on the bad guys' moms.

This episode was great! I recognized Danielle Panabaker. This episode gets a 10 out of 10!moreless
  • Lois and Hal go on a romantic outing and fight the entire time. Reese hosts a party at his house and it is taken over by college age thugs who hold Malcolm and Reese hostage and create a meth lab in their garage. Meanwhile, Dewey stays with Craig.moreless

This episode was fantastic! Hal angers Lois by accidentally revealing he lied about having a vasectomy. It was very funny when Hal ruined another couple's dinner by going into detail about the process of a vasectomy while they were eating. It was hilarious when Malcolm and Reese were taken hostage by a group of criminals led by Ritchie, forced to be servants for the guys, and Reese was tortured by the guys by being tied up and having a heavy metal ball thrown at his padded body. They got different numbers of points depending on which body part they hit. It was funny to see Reese develop Stockholm syndrome. He told Malcolm the criminals saved him life. Malcolm said, "No, they decided not to kill you!" Reese replied, "Same thing!". While Dewey stayed at Craig's house, Dewey bonded with him, and Dewey's kindness and gentleness towards Craig was sweet. After a couple days, Dewey and Craig went to Dewey's house to get a game. When they got there, of course they found the criminals. The criminals captured Craig and began to torture him. Dewey refused to go along with his brothers when they planned to sneak out and just leave Craig there. Dewey called the guys' moms and told on them. Just before the moms got there, he opened up the garage door and bravely told the guys off while his older brothers hung back. Then, the moms showed up and took their sons off. Dewey told his brothers happily, "I forgot how good it feels to tell!"moreless
  • Because this was the only way the judge would let us leave town!

How cool! This episode is one of the greatest episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, is really cool, Reese gets on the bus and is going to spent the entire weekend on the bus, Malcolm goes out with Stewie, and Dewey stays with Craig, unfortunately Malcolm and Reese disobey end up in their house where Reese throws out a party that is soon taken over by junkies, when they don't know what to do, they call Francis, but is Dewey the one who helps the brothers at the end...moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • During the scene where Lois is eating the dinner for two alone, she gets up to switch to Hal's spot to eat his steak. If you look very closely, you can clearly see that her steak is still left on her plate.

    • When Hal is pushing the sandwich along the table, it then clicks to him doing the same on the ground with it still on the plate. It would almost certainly have overturned in the drop.

    • Malcolm's Family's address is revealed: 12334 Maple Rd.

    • Goof: In the teaser when Lois comes out and says, "Wow, that was fast..." you can see Hal's legs sticking out and lying on his back as if he was working under the car. Then they switch to Hal trying to eat his sandwich under the car, and he is parallel with it, and on his stomach.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Reese: I'm already committed to this party.
Malcolm: Reese, you've seen enough teenage movies to know how badly this can turn out.
Reese: I haven't just seen them, I studied them and I have found the fatal flaw. In every single movie the party was on Saturday night. Mine's on Friday.

    • Malcolm: Reese, haven't you ever heard of Stockholm Syndrome? You're starting to identify with your captors.
Reese: What captors? These guys saved my life, man.
Malcolm: Because they decided not to kill you!
      Reese: Same thing.

    • Dewey: We can't just leave him here.
Francis: Dewey, there's a principle I learned at military school. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the guy who can't run fast.

    • Dewey: Didn't you ever play "Fort" when you were a kid?
Craig: Of course I played. I had friends, plenty of friends. And you're short.

    • Reese: Have fun at school without me, losers!
Malcom: Reese, think about it. It takes 26 hours to get to Canada, and 26 hours to get back. Your bag is filled with food and nobody called Grandma!
Reese: Wait, you mean I'm spending the entire weekend on this bus?
(Malcolm, Craig, & Dewey wave goodbye as bus starts moving)

    • Hal: Remember the plan?
Craig: As soon as you leave, put Reese on the bus to see his grandma in Canada, after school I take Malcolm to Stevie's, and Dewey stays with me! (hands on Dewey's shoulders) Guess you're the lucky winner!
Dewey: (nervous chuckle) Why are you splitting us up?
Hal: Because this was the only way the judge would let us leave town!

  • NOTES (2)

    • Cold Open: Lois brings out a sandwich to Hal, who is working on the car. When he goes to eat it he realizes his hands are filthy. He tries to eat it with just his mouth but the plate keeps moving. Lois comes out with a drink and sees Hal is back under the car and thinks he is done, but he is just trying to eat the sandwich.

    • Dave Higgins receives the "And" credit.
