  • Funny!

Malcolm hates how Lois controls him. After a mascot for Lucky Aid is fired, Malcolm is the new one. He must be on stilts and be dressed like Unce Sam. Reese decides to get money by getting tested by people for their pills. He takes a ton of pills everyday and it gets ugly. Dewey thinks Jamie has found "the stash." Francis hid it before he went to military school. It contains Lois' precious belongings. It turns out that Jamie was stealing from a neighbor. Hal and Lois fight about practically nothing.

This episode was really good! It was pretty funny with Reese on the phone. The part where Malcolm did the splits must have hurt a ton! The flashback was so hilarious with Francis! This episode gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me!moreless
  • Another great episode of Season 6!

This episode should have been the season's finale, but it was a still really cool. Malcolm accidentally makes Sam to get fired, and soon takes over his place, when Lois writes for him to do it, when he is over it, he discovers that he hates it, and feels guilty because of Sam. Malcolm tries to search for a job for him, but Sam goes on his own stilts and begins a fight between them. Meanwhile, Reese begins to take a lot of drugs in order to win a lot of money, and Dewey thinks that Jamie has find the "treasure" that Francis once hide, and also Hal buys Lois expensive shoes in order for her to forgive him about making a 800$ call.moreless
  • This is one of the funniest episodes of Malcolm I've ever seen since "Kicked Out".

"Malcolm in the Middle" is a funny show, but it's the laugh-out-loud climaxes that I love. Like Reese's stunt gone wrong in "Kicked Out", the climax in "Stilts" is hilarious. The wacky-and slow- battle between Malcolm and the former store Uncle Sam had me laughing in tears. Other jokes, like a drugged-out Reese on a runaway police horse, were funny too. Linwood Boomer delivered the laughs in one of his few episodes as a director, and the show's writers really know how to make really funny climaxes. All and all, a very funny episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • Craig says that Sam was his canary. This refers to the way that miners used to use canary's in the mines to tell if there was a toxic gas leak. When the canary died, they knew it was no longer safe for them to breathe the air. In this case, Craig said that Sam getting fired meant he had to start being careful.

    • You cannot join a clinical drug trial, as Reese does, simply by saying that you aren't taking any other medications. A physical and a complete blood panel are required.

    • Hal confronts Lois about the shoes, saying he was paying the bills. It has previously been stated that Hal wanted Lois 'to be in charge of the finances'.

    • Events from season one episodes "Red Dress" and "Smunday" are referenced in this episode, as Lois finally learns the boys weren't at fault for burning her dress and Lois's stash is seen again.

    • Lois reveals that what Leland said to her in "Malcolm Visits College" is indeed true about Lois completely running Malcolm's life in order to give her and the rest of the family a fighting chance, which happens after Malcolm tries to get another job. This reasoning becomes very clear in the series finale when Malcolm finally forces an explanation out of her.

    • The stock footage of the boys on the couch while Francis and Lois argue in the flashback is from season one episode "Smunday."

    • When Lois is taking the last picture of her to put in the magazine that she found in the boys' drawer, she held her hand in the air and made a face, but when she throws that picture in the pile, she looks different.

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (3)

    • Cold Open: Lois finds a porn magazine in the boys drawer so she takes a bunch of pictures of herself and cuts out her face and glues them on the faces of the models.

    • To make the flashback seem more realistic, recycled footage of younger Malcolm, Reese, and Dewey was used.

    • The throw to the show (right after the episode of King of the Hill ended) included an animated Malcolm introducing the show.
