Mama tells Ellen to return Mama's broach. This is the same broach she borrowed in the episode "Country Club." Did Ellen never return the broach before, or did she borrow it again?
Thelma: She was fiddling with that toothpick and I decided to have a joke with her, so I put one of the fish fins in my teeth and I busted in there saying 'Just be glad you didn't order the fish'. She was so shocked that she inhaled the toothpick and ran into the stall before I could help her, and she never come out.
*Bubba fears his parents died when he is told there will be a funeral*
Mama: No, it was your sweet Aunt Fran."
Bubba: "Who?"
Mama: "This is the same dress I buried your Daddy in."
Vint: "Gee, I always thought he was wearin' a suit."
Mama: "Funeral or no funeral, this is gonna be the happiest day of Fran's life."
*Mama tells Vint that he must be a pall barerer, and he is afriad to be close to the corspe*
Mama: "That's casket's got handles. I ain't askin' ya to give her a piggy back ride."
Vint: "No Ed and Eunice."
Mama: "There's a blessing."
Naomi: "Say Iola, I think the silver ware belongs at the other end of the line."
Iola: "I am a home economics major Naomi. I believe I know how to lay a buffet."
Naomi: "I'll bet that's the only thing."
Mama: "And you do somethin' with that hair!"
Naomi: "What's the matter with my hair?"
Mama: "It's too big. We're going to a funeral, not the Country Music Awards."
*Vint asked what Mama means by natural causes*
Mama: "It means she wasn't murdered or beamed up my martians."
Mama: "I'm in mourning, damn it!"
*Mama offers Aunt Effie a snack*
Mama: "Hors d'oeuvres, Effie?"
Effie: "It just looks like plain old peanut butter on a cracker. What do you call it?"
Mama: "Plain old peanut butter on a cracker!"
In the scene where Bubba comes in upset about Ed and Eunice having moved away, take a look to the left of the screen as Mama says that it's "Fran's Day." The "4th wall" is broken, as you can see into the kitchen where the living room cuts off.
This is the last episode where Buzz and Sonja are mentioned, as Mama says that they can't come. But we never find out where they would be coming from.
The picture of Fran in the memorial should look familiar, it is the same picture used for Rue's credit as Aunt Fran, for season 2.
This episode is sometimes noted as the first syndicated episode.
