Mama and Fran return home from shopping and find Vinton at the house. He asks Mama for a favor for his friend Claude. She insults him. After dinner, Claude calls and asks Vint for $200 for bail. He asks Ellen, she says no. Then he pauns Mama's silver formoreless
This was a good episode. For a while, I thought that this was the pilot episode. Even though it wasn't, it still could have passed for the pilot, and since it is shown as the first episode in syndication. It was funny, and kept me wondering "What's going to happen next?".
Though this is the last episode of the season, Naomi is not referenced at all. Nor does it appear that she is living at Mama's. So is Naomi married to Vint in this episode, or is this supposed to be before they tied the knot?
Edit
Buzz says that he's going to go next door and beat up Tommy Boylen. So it must obviously be the same home as the future character of Iola Boyland. But, who is Tommy? Iola only ever mentioned her mother and father. Unless Buzz implied to his father he'd go beat up an old man, Iola's father, to make him proud of him. Thus, Iola's father could be named Tommy, but, that seems highly unlikely; that Buzz is referencing someone his own age.
Edit
Mama: My mistake was in letting you move back in here after that miserable wife of yours ran off to be a showgirl in Las Vegas! At her age and with those legs!
Edit
(Mama and Vint are fighting about Claude)Vint: He is a man of vision and integrity and belief in his fellow human beings!
Mama: Well, what did he need that money for?
Vint: Bail!
Edit
Fran: Well, I guess I'll just go crawl under the bed and dry my hair.
