Like father like daughter, as it turns out. Tiffany wasn't born in a hospital, just as Thelma had revealed Vint wasn't in the episode Birthright. (He was born in a hen house.)
Notice the scene where Baba begins to read Vint's note but Mama and Naomi rip it out of his hands. Naomi reads the first half of the note (which would be on the left hand side of the paper), but she actually ended up with the right hand side, and vice verca with Mama. Either the producers made a mistake, or it could have been another stupid thing Vint does, which is to write the note first and then the salutations second.
When Vint drops the folders with the pictures in them, why didn't he just check inside them to see which folder had the right shot of Mama? He could have prevented the mistake.
Iola reveals that she's been camera-shy since childhood due to a traumatic incident involving her mother. But if you go back to "Hawaii Part 2" Iola is clearly smiling in front of the camera as Thelma is about to take her picture.
Why didn't Mama or Iola see the flyer? If they had to put them up in places, you think they might have had a glance at them.
The pictures Bubba takes of everyone are very close (if not actual) of what the cast members were saying and doing at that time.
Iola's flower is the Dainty Bess. The Dainty Bess is an exquisitely beautiful rose from the 1920's. The rose has charming single blooms and an elegant stature.
The Glamorous Stacey Q. appears in this episode as one of Bubba's singers
A week after this episode aired in Syndication, NBC's flagship show at the time (Golden Girls) aired an episode entitled "Comedy Of Errors" where Dorothy does stand up comedy. This is almost a direct rip off of the Mama's Family episode that aired only a week earlier. Obviously the writers of the Golden Girls had just seen this episode of Mama's Family, as it would be too much of a coincidence to have both the main characters doing the exact same thing!
It is mentioned in this episode that Mama's 50th Junior High School Reunion is coming up. This means that Mama is most likely around 64 years of age, give or take a year.
As with a lot of episodes in this series, the "Tri-State area" is mentioned. If we are to assume that Mama and her family live in Raytown, MO (as noted on the license plate in one episode), then there is only one area where three states would meet near Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. However, Raytown, MO is an actual city in the suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri. The border of Nebraska is around 120 miles from this location. Seems like a long way for Bubba to drive to be testing products in the "Tri-State area."
Mama comes back from Ray-Mart and is mad about not being able to return the blender. Before she sits down, she unbuttons the top button of her sweater. A couple moments later, she is shown and it is re-buttoned, but she never touched it. She even undoes it a second time.
Goof: The control panel for the intercom is in the living room, but Vint, Naomi, and Bubba were ease dropping from the front porch. Does this mean you can hear inside any room from any location inside or outside the house? Shouldn't you just be able to here from the main panel?
Goof: When Vint tells Mama he is going to go outside to have her test the intercom from the porch, he opens the unlocked door. However, when he tries to come back in, the door is locked. How did the door lock when it was open already?
Even though we learned in season three's "Birthright" that Vint is allergic to strawberries, at the end of this episode, Vint is eating strawberry shortcake with no problems at all.
When Vint goes off to work, Mama gives him his Binky Bunny lunchbox, but in the episode Workman's Holiday, Thelma gives the lunchbox away at the end of the episode.
Mother Harper's Miracle Tonic is a thick, black substance reminiscent of motor oil. However, when Mama and Iola are labeling the jars and bottles, it is a yellowish clear, watery fluid.
In this episode, Mama says that Wednesday is beans and franks night. But she said in other episodes it was meatloaf night. Supposedly, she changed it.
Mama talks about the tour of the old homes of Bump. But when Bubba ran away with plans to go to Bump, he was told all it was is a STOP sign and a bump. Apparently, there is more to see than he was told.
At one point Iola takes a pan of muffins out of the oven with no oven mits... they must of been hot!
