Mamotte Shugogetten

Show Summary

Mamotte Shugogetten translates to "Protect Me, Heavenly Moon Guardian!". This anime is about Tasuke Shichiri, a teenage boy who lives alone because his family is out on different adventures. His father is an explorer who is excavating China. During his explorations his father found an ancient ring called a "shitenrin". Legend has it that if a person of a pure heart looks into the ring, he will be blessed with a guardian from heaven. After Tasuke receives this artifact from this father, he releases the goddess living in the shitenrin. Her name is Shugogetten Shaorin and she has been locked in the ring for over a thousand years. Because of her isolation for so long she does not understand the things happening in his era. This ironically causes Tasuke more trouble than Shaorin protecting him. Shaorin calls forth the help of spirits called the Hoshigami. The next day Tasuke receives another artifact. This time it was a wand, which he found in the same area as the shitenrin. While examining the wand a goddess named Keikounitten Ruuan appears. Her destiny was to make the person who releases her happy. Ruuan has been in the wand for 1652 years. During the times when both goddesses were released they have been rivals. Ruuan's power is turning inanimate objects to life.

In this anime many people fall in love with the Tasuke or the two goddesses causing multiple love triangles. It's a great love comedy that's worth watching.

Mamotte originally aired Saturdays at 6pm in Japan for 22 episodes plus an OAV. It has not been brought to the US yet.moreless
