  • Dean learner and garth marengi together again

    Dean learner

    the former star of darkplace

now has his own chat show

and who should he interview first his old pal maringi.

    The interview is cringingly sicophantic

    and embarassingly funny

The true highlight of the show is the extended clip from night of the wasps.Marengi and his pal use helicopters to attack killer laser firing space wasps with bad acting dialogue and special effects. It is an absolute gem.

The author himself comes across as an inept ,egotisticall

and of low intelligence. He churns out fourth rate books and still sees himself as the messiah of horror

It is a testimant to the writers that this is al subtley done

and on the surface its just another interview to plug his latest work

watch enjoy and be amazed /apauledmoreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Confusion over link between Darkplace and War of the Wasps:

Was War of the Wasps meant to be a Darkplace feature film?
In War of the Wasps, not only does Dagless mention Romford (which is the location of Darkplace hospital), but also the names of characters make it seem they could be the same characters who appear in Darkplace. e.g. Dagless, Sanchez and Reed. However, in the film Reed and Sanchez's first names are not given, and Garth Marenghi plays the character Ken Dagless, 'a renegade insectologist and part-time horror writer' as opposed to Dr Rick Dagless, M.D.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Dean Learner: And are the wasps a metaphor?
Garth Marenghi: A meta for what?
Dean Learner: No, sorry, sorry. A metaphor.
Garth Marenghi: Er, yes. Yes, let's say they are.

    • Garth Marenghi: Can I just say that when I entered there, the floor should've been entirely covered in dry ice to give the impression that I don't have feet. So just bear in mind I may or may not have hooves.

    • Garth Marenghi: In early January I wrote "Return of The Coil", about a woman who circumnavigates the portals of hell via a cursed contraceptive device. In late Jan I wrote the sequel; "Return of The Coil 2: Re-entry". In early Feb "Hell-bent" my novella about a homosexual demon searching for acceptance within his own diabolical community came out; both literally and figuratively.

    • Dean Learner: I'm having, actually, to down-size the harem here at Dean Towers, because I'm converting some of the girls' bedrooms into an indoor skating rink.

    • Dean Learner: Within the week I'd coined the phrase "Books that will scare you stiff", we'd opened up a new 'horrotica' division, and our sales just went silly.

    • Dean Learner: I wanted to release books that would give the reader a boner, but leave him too terrified to do anything about it.
