    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • The answer to the question of who was in the first Lite beer commercial was actually former NFL player Matt Snell. The commercial first aired in 1973.  So both Al and Jefferson were completely wrong on their answers.

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Peg: Al, we have been talking about this for two days. You never listen to me.
Al: Why would I? You got a t.v.
Peg: I know. It's the only thing you've turned on in twenty years.
Al: Well if you came with a remote and mute button I'd might turn you on too every now and then.

      • Al: (On the phone.) Hello, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. I have an alcohol question. Who was in the first Lite Beer commercial. (I say it was Bubba Smith. But my friend here says it was - Hello? Hello?! ( Smirks and looks at Jefferson.) Uh, he said it was Bubba.

    • NOTES (1)

      • Married With Children creators Ron Leavitt and Michael Moye had both previously been producers of the tv show The Jeffersons.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • The episode title is an allusion to the 1990 film, Dances with Wolves, directed, produced and starring Kevin Costner, based on the 1988 Michael Blake book of the same name.

      • When the patrons in the bar get a fight over who was in the first Miller Lite commercial, half chant "Bubba Smith!" and the other half respond by chanting "Billy Martin!" This is a takeoff on the Miller Lite commercials of the 1980's when one group of people would chant "Tastes Great!" and fight against others chanting "Less Filling!" to try to determine what was the best thing about Miller Lite.
