    Despite being laughed at by his family and friends, Al successfully auditions for a Superbowl commercial for the new Zeus athletic shoe featuring other, much more accomplished former athletes. However, he finds out the hard way that he didn't get the role he assumed he was cast for.

    It's Friday night, and Peg invites the D'arcy's over to play a board game called "Ethical Dilemma," which subjects Al to repeated bouts of humiliation. Meanwhile, Bud's hormones compel him to engage in increasingly dangerous recreational activities to impress a girl named Kara.

    Al and the family raid the home of his recently deceased uncle Joe, which causes Al to decide it's time to make out his own will. When he discovers he has amassed nothing of value during his life, he becomes determined to retrieve his Polk High championship game ball from a former girlfriend.moreless

    Al happily admits that a young and attractive shoe groupie is hitting on him at work, which causes Peg and the D'arcys to think he's cheating on her. He faces a dilemma when he comes home one day to find the groupie waiting for him in his bed.

    Peg uses the money budgeted for the utilities to join the record of the month club, forcing Al to take a second job as a janitor for a private investigator. When he is mistaken for his employer by an attractive client, he is more than eager to help her out, but winds up being framed for murder.moreless

    Kelly's talk show is picked up by the NBS network, and she brings Al and Bud with her to Hollywood. However, the network executives soon decide to make some changes to its format.

    After seeing Marcy on television, Kelly becomes inspired to host her own public access talk show with her friends. In the meantime, Al finally gets cable television but has difficulty finding anything worth watching.
  • God's Shoes

    Al becomes hysterical and falls out of the bedroom window when he discovers a $2500 portrait of Peg. He has a vision of God's shoes while unconscious and proceeds to labor forty days and forty nights building them, which Jefferson sees as the basis of a great marketing gimmick.

    After nearly driving off the freeway, and losing out on two sports trivia contests because he couldn't read the phone number on the television screen, Al finally breaks down and buys glasses. However, he quickly discovers that 20/20 vision isn't all it's cracked up to be.

    Peg feels neglected when everyone obsesses over Bucks ailing health. In protest, she leaves to spend a week with her family in Wanker County, where she quickly realizes her home life isn't so bad.
  • Peg helps Marcy recover her antique baby furniture that was auctioned off after Jefferson used the storage unit fees to bet on horses. Meanwhile, Al and the kids start an anti-baby club in Peg's absence.

    Suspicious of how Kelly was able to earn $1000 for a gown in just three nights, Al discovers she's become a pool hustler with Jefferson as her manager. Al then puts his life on the line to give her the chance to win $10,000.
  • If Al Had a Hammer
    Episode 3
    In protest of Peg's declaration that the new baby will be sleeping in their bedroom, Al uses his father's cursed hammer to transform the garage into his own personal paradise. Meanwhile, Bud attempts to change his luck with women by creating the gangsta rapper persona, "Grandmaster B."

    Unable to put up with their wives' unrelenting demands, Al and Jefferson flee to the bus station and dream about starting new lives on the west coast.

    Al ridicules the D'arcys when they happily announce that Marcy is pregnant. However, his world is turned upside down when Peg breaks the news that she is five months pregnant herself.
