The city of Los Angeles is an area of 465 square miles with 7,366 miles of streets. The Pobladores, a group of 46 people of 12 families, came to this area on September 4, 1781 to establish a home and community. They named it "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles de Porciuncula". The lowest point is 9 feet below sea level at Wilmington. The highest point is 10,080 feet above sea level on top of Mt. San Antonio.
