      • This week's episode takes us to... New Orleans, Louisiana New Orleans main street, where Mardi Gras takes place, is Bourbon Street. The kick off of Mardi Gras is known as Fat Tuesday. New Orleans is known around the globe as the birthplace of jazz. It is known as the Cresent City because it was built on a great turn of the Mississippi River. The French Quarter, or Vieux Carre (French for "old square"), is the site of the original city and contains many of the historic and architecturally significant buildings for which New Orleans is famous.
