The way the scenes are edited leave one wondering just how far away the local village is. We see Charles and Mr. Kim leaving the 4077 just as they are starting to set up for the exchange. Charles comments that they haven't much time. He concludes his deal, and heads back. We then see Klinger settling in for his exam--which he must complete in three hours. Charles is stopped by the MPs roughly one hour away from the 4077th on foot. We see Klinger throwing in the towel. He may have quit before the three hours were up--although Potter was shown checking his watch, which implies that time was running out, but it still had to be a fair amount of time. By the time Charles comes running to the barricade, Klinger has had time to get freshened up and into a fresh (Naval) uniform. The village just seems to be too far away. If it was so far, it doesn't seem likely that the 4077th personnel would be allowed to go there, for fear that the war would intrude and they'd need to get back fast.
B.J.: Charles is just what this place needs--a robber baron who makes house calls.
Mulcahy: Attention, all personnel. Well, uh, not all personnel. This is Father Mulcahy, addressing the one personnel who stole the money entrusted to Captain Pierce. You may think you've reaped a profit by this act, but as ye sow, so shall ye reap! Robbery itself is a sin, but robbery of your comrades in arms is an abomination before the Lord--and a really dirty trick!
Hawkeye: That should do it, Father.
Mulcahy: Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord! Oh, ye generation of vipers!
Hawkeye: I think that did it.
Mulcahy: And he that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit--better that man had never been born!
Hawkeye: We're a little late, so goodnight, folks!
Mulcahy: Uh, yes. Well, uh, (genuflects) bless one and all.
Villager: That--G.I. Joe your friend?
Mr. Kim: I only make tailoring for him.
Villager: May the seat of his pants turn into scorpion.
Sergeant Maxwell, MP: If there's ever anything I can do for you, let me know.
Hawkeye: How about arresting this war for disturbing the peace?
Colonel Potter: (seeing Klinger in a dress uniform) Klinger! You're out of uniform!
Yet another episode to include oft used M*A*S*H guest star Tom Dever (here, as Cpl Boone). Dever is also seen in season 2 episode 13 ("Deal Me Out"), season 3 episode 19 ("Aid Station"), season 4 episode 1 ("Welcome To Korea"), season 7 episode 7 ("They Call The Wind Korea").
Radar does not appear in this episode.
BJ: (about Klinger) There's Old Nose and Guts now.
A reference to the nickname of General George Patton (1885-1945): Old Blood and Guts.
