    The zen of pacifism:

"I will not carry a gun, Frank. When I got thrown into this war I had a clear understanding with the Pentagon: no guns. I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward, Cary Grant, cash and carry, carry me back to Old Virginia, I'll even 'hari-kari' if you show me how, but I will not carry a gun."

"What happens in the event that figure 'A' is attracted to figure 'B' and wants to get married. But figure 'A' is already married to figure 'C' and figure 'B' is engaged to figure 'D' but figure 'A' can't keep his hands of figure 'B' because she's got such a great figure."

I have this phrase from early in the series which comes to mind occassionally and noone ever gets it. I don't know enough M*A*S*H fans I guess. I think it's from "I Hate a Mystery" and Hawkeye is solving the crime.

    "...ill-booten gotty..."

Margaret: "I'da loved him if I'da known!!"
    -Hot Lips and Empty Arms

    Hawkeye: "How's my nostril hair?"
BJ: "I'd look, but I'm afraid of the dark."

Colonel Potter: "Don't change the color of your face! I'm out of umber!!"

Radar: "P for pain, P for purple. W for white, W for sleep."

Winchester: "Can you tell me what I'm about to say ... now?"
Radar: "Yes sir, but I promised Father Mulcahy I wouldn't use those words."

    BJ: "Wait, wait wait!!
    Hawkeye: "What what what???"
BJ: "Don't throw it(dead rat) towards the kitchen. You know how they are!"
    Hawkeye throws the rat out.
Winchester: "Oh good. One down, two to go."

"Look, you can't lay all that on my shoulders. Don't you know how much this place stinks? Don't you know what it's like to stand day after day in blood? In the blood of children? I hate this place. And if I can't stand up to it to your satisfaction, then... then the hell with it. How dare you? The hell with your Iowa naivete, and the hell with your hero worship and your teddy bear, and while you're at it, the hell with you! Why don't you grow up for crying out loud? I'm not here for you to admire. I'm here to pull bodies out of a sausage grinder, if possible without going crazy. Period."

If that was a bit longer, I'd use it as a monolouge while trying out for the school play that I may or may not audition for in a few days. It was perhaps the most gut-wrenching quote from the series...and I loved it.

I would, but it's not really long enough to use. Also, our theater teacher kind of frowns upon using monologues from TV shows or movies. He prefers them from plays.

Not necessarily. Even nowadays, some people consider TV to be a lower form of art than the theater.

Yeah I mean I'm not that upset, plus how often do you get a monologue-length speech on a TV show? Also, we can use movies, as long as the movie was a play before it hit the silver screen.
