    • TRIVIA (0)

    • QUOTES (9)

      • Potter: Can I tell you something as a friend? A tough friend?
        Hawkeye: Tough friends last longer.

      • BJ: (reading about the operation) Let's jump to the end and see how this operation turns out.

      • B.J.: I'm a life-giver!
Hawkeye: Congratulations. Really. I mean it. Show me your tongue.
B.J.: My tongue? That's small potatoes. I'll show you my butt! Hey! Hey everybody! All right, all right, all right! Give me attention.
Hawkeye: A simple "ah" would be sufficient.
B.J.: (removing his trousers) In celebration of the world's most difficult surgery, and the world's most wonderful surgeon--snatching life out of the jaws of death--we unveil for you now, the Hippocrates of Ouijongbu.

      • Klinger (about Zale): He's always making cracks about my lingerie. He just doesn't have the guts! I'd like to see him in a panty girdle!

      • Klinger: Sir, if you find out I got hepatitis, I'm gonna kiss Zale right on the mouth.

      • Frank: Will you check my arms? I think my arms are getting longer!

      • Hawkeye: (to BJ) Look, if you can't read without moving your lips, at least turn the sound off.

      • BJ: You never exercise.
Hawkeye: I wrestle periodically with the nurses.

      • BJ (about his mail): It's the Surgical Journal, Radar.
Radar: Oh yeah? I seen one of those once. I'd rather look at the outsides of people.

    • NOTES (4)

      • Although not referred to by name, the type of hepatitis in this episode is probably Hepatitis A. Hepatitis A is more contagious than other types, but it is usually not gravely serious and most people make a complete recovery.

      • It is interesting to note that while they have a scene in the o.r. and everyone is performing surgery except for Hawkeye.

      • The final scene where Hawkeye is exercising and B.J. is suffering a hangover from his celebratory binge was cut out of the syndicated package.

      • This episode was inspired by William Christopher's actual bout with hepatitis, which caused him to miss several episodes, including the previous one.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Hawkeye is bent over from back pain and Colonel Potter says he's "walking around like Lon Chaney's stand-in." Lon Chaney played Quasimodo in the movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
