    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • The episode opens with the camera panning across the compound and closing in on Henry's tent. This sort of motion usually means that the scene to follow takes place in that location, but when the scene cuts, Henry and Radar are in his office, not his personal tent.

      • Henry mentioned the movie The Blob when he was talking to the Private who went A.W.O.L to get a nose job, but that movie didn't come out until after the Korean war.

    • QUOTES (10)

      • Hawkeye: Listen, there are a lot of people who think that a big nose is a sign of sexual potency. (Glances at Mulcahy) Sorry, Father.
Mulcahy: I just translate things like that into Latin. Makes them sound noble.

      • (Baker has chosen his nose)
Maj. Robbins: Yah got taste, kid. I got that one for my wife for her birthday. We're in business. All right, Hawk, where's the barracuda? Now, come on. It's been hours. I'm getting a headache.

      • Father Mulcahy: My son, we're all made in God's image.
Private Baker: Then he must have a schnoz the size of Texas.

      • Frank: What are you doing here?
        Radar: I was drafted, sir.
Frank: Your nose is supposed to be broken. (points at Radar's nose)
Radar: Uh, yes, well, Dr. Pierce said it was just a sprain, and if I keep off it for a month I'll only have to put liquids in it.
        Frank: I'm a doctor, and that's crazy!
        Radar: I've heard that, sir.

      • Frank: (over the phone) Oh, gosh, it's good to talk to you, honey.
Margaret: (screams) Who the hell is that?
        Frank: It's my wife!

      • PA Announcer: Attention. Major Robbins, report for emergency surgery. Major Burns, report to the CO. Major Houlihan, report to Supply. These are the major announcements for the day.

      • Private Baker: You don't have to live with the jokes. "Uh, excuse me, but my bus is late and it's raining. Mind if I stand under your nose?" "Ever thought of putting in an attic?" At my Draft Board, the guy next to me says, (speaks in drawl) "You could be 4-F. Just tell them you're an anteater!"

      • (Hawkeye and Trapper tell Henry they want to bring Maj. Robbins to work on Baker)
Henry: Don't tell me. I don't want to know about it. You guys have my full permission, and I never said that. I mean, I'm not even here, so how could I? (walks in Radar's office) Radar?
        Radar: Sir?
Henry: Make an entry in the daily report that I wasn't here today, and bring it to me so I can sign it.
Radar: Uh, sir, if you sign it, it'll show you were here.
Henry: Then you sign it for me.
Radar: Yes, sir. Should I sign your name?
Henry: You'll have to, because I'm gonna say it was a forgery.
        Radar: Yes, sir.
Henry: Well, no sense hanging around if I'm not here.

      • Hawkeye (to Baker): Do you know why Napoleon always had his hand down here? (puts his hand inside his coat) He was scratching his nose.

      • (as Maj. Robbins and Baker go through selections in 'nose' catalogue)
Hawkeye: Gee, I never realized it was so hard to pick a nose.
Maj. Robbins: Do me a favor, huh? (pointing to one selection) Big winner! Very popular number. This job paid for two Cadillacs.
Trapper: I'd call that 'paying through the nose.' (Hawkeye laughs)
Maj. Robbins: The wit in this room flows like molasses.
