Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • The 'orderly stampede' that lines up outside the Mess tent consists of women as well as men. After getting Hawkeye settled with the military script and the paperwork, Radar leaves, stating that he himself will go and give the officers their pay. Clearly, Hawkeye is only giving the noncoms their pay. However, the only women in the outfit are nurses, and all nurses are commissioned officers--so Radar would be paying them, and they had no need to stand in line.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Frank: Klinger!
      Klinger: Yes, sir!
Frank: Just where do you get the gall to show up for payday dressed like a two-dollar streetwalker? (to Mulcahy) Sorry, Father.
Klinger: I was worried about these earrings with tweed.

    • Hawkeye: (to Captain Sloan) How long have you had this delusion that you're human?

    • Captain Sloan: (handing money back towards Hawkeye): You're eight dollars over.
Hawkeye: I'll take that. For rent for the watch. 4 dollars an hour.
Trapper: I only had it an hour!
Hawkeye: Oh, I'm sorry, I'll get it fixed!
      Trapper: Who is this guy?
Henry: Boy, I wish I knew what was going on.
Radar: Oh, I'll tell you later, sir.
Henry: You always say that, Radar, but you never do.

    • Hawkeye: Every time I've tried to register with a certain nurse, someone's committed captain interruptus!

    • PA Announcement: Attention all personnel. Due to the incredible mediocrity of last night's movie, it will be shown again tonight at 2100 hours.

    • Hawkeye (counting out a soldier's pay): I hope this is right. I'm just an ordinary chest-cutter. I can't make change for anything over two nurses.

    • PA Announcement: Attention all personnel. The eagle screams today. It's payday. All personnel kindly form an orderly stampede.

    • Quoc (referring to Frank): The major had what we call a real 'fertilizer face.'
