  • I cry when I watch this episode - and it has nothing to do with Radar's drumming.

This show was a hodgepodge - we had several plotlines put together, and the show itself is very erratic, jumping from one scene to another. The music is nice, but it doesn't flow with the rest of the show at all. Jean Turrell, Marilyn King, and Joan Lucksinger (The Miller Sisters) do some beautiful harmonies - I find myself singing along with them in places, but it just doesn't fit in with the show.

This episode never made me cry until after I watched "Abyssinia, Henry." Henry never got to see or hold his son, which makes the second to last scene in his office much more poignant (even though the writers forgot about the child in later episodes, and Henry claims that he has two children). Not a very good episode, but there are some very special moments in here.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Goof: In this episode, Henry is awaiting the birth of his third child. However, in the remainder of the episodes he's in, Henry states that he only has two children (Molly and Andrew).

    • Goof: In all of the other episodes, the shower heads are on the LEFT of the shower stall (when looking toward the entrance). In this episode, the shower heads are on the RIGHT of the shower stall when Hawkeye cannot get them to work.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Radar: Would you like a surprise, sir?
Henry: Yes, I would. I'd like to be stolen by gypsies and taken to their camp in Bloomington, Illinois.

    • Hawkeye: Here's to your new son, Henry. (clinks glasses)
Henry: Yeah. Yeah. But let's hope I meet him before he gets drafted and sent over here.

    • Henry: Can you imagine? I am becoming a father for the third time.
      Radar: Oh, yes, sir!
Henry: Oh, yes, sir is right.
Radar: They know what causes that now!

    • Frank: You've insulted me in the presence of others for the last time.
Hawkeye: Don't forget your hat, Frank. (hands Frank a bedpan)

    • (Kaplan is in traction)
Kaplan: I knew it! Did I know it? Did I know? Did I say it? I said it from the very beginning. Jinxed!
Hawkeye: Anybody can step on the gas instead of the brake.
      Kaplan: How's the driver?
      Hawkeye: The kid's okay.
Kaplan: Figures! I'm going home, I'm in pieces. He's staying here, he didn't bust a pimple. You know how I'm getting home when the time comes? I'm walking!
      Hawkeye: Look--(breaks up and leaves)
Kaplan: You're not leaving me alone?

  • NOTES (2)

    • This episode marks the final appearence of Ugly John although John Orchard who played him shows up in the season eight episode "Captains Outrageous" as an MP name Muldoon.

    • In this episode, Radar plays drums for a short period of time. Some people believe that this was dubbed in, but it's actually Gary Burghoff playing it.
