  • TRIVIA (1)

  • QUOTES (10)

    • (Col. Blake refuses to allow Hot Lips to over-punish a nurse)
Margaret: (annoyed) Well, you're certainly proving your lack of usual help.
Henry: Boy, Major, you and your nurses can be pains in the royal butt! If you're not in here every five minutes with a lot of buggle oil about how you can't control them, they're in here complaining that you're really Hermann Goering in drag.
Margaret: (furious) Which one of them said that?!!
Henry: I'm not finking, Major. I'm not gonna let you chain some poor little nurse to her cot or set her adrift in a bedpan.
Margaret: Then you don't mind if I go over your head... again?!
Henry: Just so long as it's on tiptoe.

    • Spalding: Where are the nurses going, Radar?
Radar: 44th Field Hospital, with all the wounded that can be moved. It looks like we maybe might get hit by an enemy paratroop drop.
Trapper: Got any more good news?
Hawkeye: Christmas cancelled? The Pentagon been enlarged? Lassie been spayed?

    • Klinger: You hear the news?
Trapper: If you were a nurse, we'd be shipping you to the 44th.
Klinger: If I was a nurse, I'd be home now--pregnant.

    • Margaret: I'll call you from the 44th, first chance.
Frank: To become just a disembodied voice! When we've spent all this time being so embodied.

    • Frank: That sassyjabber is wasted on me, Captain Wiseapple.

    • (after Margaret leaves Henry's office, Radar comes in)
Radar: Sir? HQ just called. They said we could be expecting an enemy attack.
Henry: Radar, that's the nicest thing I've heard today.

    • (Radar looks out the window in Blake's office to see the enemy plane)
Radar: Hey he's dropping something...Holy Cow! It's five o'clock Charlie!
(Blake bumps his head under his desk)
Blake: That idiot! That's the raid?
Hawkeye: He couldn't hit the side of a war!

    • (during Frank's wedding film)
Klinger (about a female guest at the wedding) Hate that hat.
Blake: (about Louise) Do you think she'll take off her glasses?
Trapper: (during projection screen set-up) Klinger! Hurry up and sit down.
      Hawkeye: You little heartbreaker!
(Klinger turns around smoking a big cigar)
      Klinger: (at film's end) B-thp, b-thp, b-thp, that's all folks.

    • Hawkeye: The plot thins. Watch the cake die of malpractice.

    • Hawkeye: I'd like a dry martini, Mr. Quoc, a very dry martini. A very dry, arrid, barren, desiccated, veritable dustbowel of a martini. I want a martini that could be declared a disaster area. Mix me just such a martini.

  • NOTES (4)

    • Lorretta Swit makes a rare slight blooper in this episode. Before telling Henry that she'll 'have to go over his head...again' in the matter involving Nurse Baker, she says he's 'displaying his lack of usual co-operation.' Given that Henry rarely sides with Frank and Hot Lips, the line was more likely 'displaying his usual lack of co-operation'.

    • This marks the second, and final, appearance of "Five O' Clock Charlie".

    • A rarity in this series, Hawkeye actually salutes Margaret when the nurses come back home.

    • In one scene, Hawkeye, Trapper, Henry, Radar and Klinger are looking at home movies of Frank's wedding to his wife Louise. For the first time they see why he would be carrying on with Margaret. Louise is a very frumpy looking woman who probably only married Frank because he was the only one who bothered to ask her out.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Henry tells Margaret that the nurses claim she is really Hermann Goering in drag. Hermann Goering was a German pilot who took control of the German airforce after the Red Baron was shot down in WWI. He was also its leader in WWII.
