Episode Recap

The amateur chefs must prepare their signature dishes for the panel of judges, and they will be judged on whether their dish is delicious, creative, and prepared with a lot of skill. For them to pass onto the next round they must impress 2 out of the 3 judges. The chefs have one hour to cook, and five minutes to plate in front of the judges.

The first contestant, Jennifer, a 34 year old realtor from Delaware prepared a Curried Coconut and Lentil Soup with Spicy Shrimp, and she impresses the judges enough to win the first apron of the night. Albert, a 51 year old truck driver from Mississippi prepares Triple Tail Gator with Sausage and Alligator Jambalaya . The judges are impressed with his dish, and he gets an apron.

Mike, a 38 year old firefighter from Massachusetts prepared a Breaded Halibut with Risotto and Lobster Newburg Sauce. He does not get an apron, but Gordon Ramsey advises him to keep on cooking, and hopefully by next year, he'll be guaranteed a place in the competition. Monica, a 28 year old Pianist from New York prepared a Korean dish: Bibimbop which consists of Korean-veggies with rice, and a fried egg. She gets an apron. Three more contestants are shown to get aprons, but are briefly on screen.

Tracy, a 32 year old sales consultant from Florida prepared a Truffled Egg with Wild Mushroom Risotto Cake, but comes across as pretentious to the judges. Her garnish and her truffle oil seemed overwhelming for her dish, and the judges call her out on it. The judges tell her to remove those things from her dish, and hope that she can learn from her mistakes. She gets an apron. Christian, a 33 year old event planner from Las Vegas, Nevada prepares human sushi, using his wife as the "plate" from which the 3 judges eat off of. The judges are not impressed, and he does not move on.

Pauline, a 51 year old realtor from California, prepared Salmon and Haggis En Croute with Whisky and Dill Sauce moves onto the next round with an apron. Christian, a 31 year old stay at home dad prepared Shipwreck Stew with Lobster, Shrimp, and Assorted Shellfish and wins him an apron.
