  • So boring it made me cry

You normally have to wait until a show is in it's fourth or fifth series before a self indulgent episode like this. How does this move the plot forward? This second series is flagging badly behind the high standard of the first - we will need to see some dramatic improvement or we ain't watching no more.
  • Well, that was different

This episode is rather an oddity. It is essentially a two-person one-act play with some other stuff tossed in. There is no story development, the episode instead focused on the odd romance between Masters and Johnson, tied together by an extended boxing match. It's sometimes interesting, but I like my character revelations released bit by bit rather than in big, unwieldy chunks, and I like a story to keep moving forward, rather than taking a rest stop to chat about its feelings for an hour.

There is also a small subplot involving a baby with two many sex organs that doesn't tie in well thematically with the main story.

I'm not surprised a lot of people like this. It's well written and it's taking a chance by trying something different. But my girlfriend and I both felt a bit let down.moreless
  • I was enthraled

What a great episode! Lizzy Caplan and Michael Sheen were amazing, turns out all you need is the two of them and a hotel room to make one of the best episodes of the season (of any show). Oh, and I guess the writers also had something to do with it.
