Take a trip into the unique and mystical world of supernatural tales... The third series of Mataku is a continuation of the previous series of contemporary tales of the unexpected and unexplained, set in New Zealand. Ordinary characters encounter mysterious phenomena of Maori mythology. Each new programme is introduced by internationally-recognised television and film actor, Temuera Morrison (Once Were Warriors and What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?) "Mataku is a series of entirely Maori stories," says director Carey Carter. "For many viewers it was the first time that they have experienced such tales. Mataku offers a unique insight into parts of New Zealand's identity and culture that have been unexplored in television to date."
