Math Monsters

Show Summary

Math Monsters is a 12-part computer animated mathematics series specially designed for preschool to second grade mathematics curriculums, and strictly follows the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) standards. The series features four math-monster friends as they practice various mathematical skills. It demonstrates how to collect and manage data, as well as teach the importance of using standard units of measurement. With catchy songs, colorful animation, and an exciting storyline, each episode makes learning mathematics easy and fun. Toward the end of each series, a special segment shows how mathematics is applied in real life, and also includes tape cues for discussion. Aside from the first 12 animated series, three additional episodes cover more advanced topics such as the use of landmark numbers, number line, estimation, and computing an area. Through the help of 3-D animation, Math Monsters is a new way to teach kids various topics about mathematics in an enjoyable and easy way.
