This episode was the first live color remote drama broadcast in television history. It was broadcast from an orange grove at the Rancho Rinconada in the San Fernando valley north of Los Angeles California. It was originally set to be staged in the San Joaquin Valley but flooding prevented this. Producer-director Alan Neuman had two scripts ready, one for sunny weather, the other with storm dialog in case it rained. He also brought yellow slickers for the cast in case of rain. Fortunately although the sky was overcast it did not rain
The production was marred slightly by an aircraft flying over during a crucial scene and some other unrehearsed noises from time to time. However the show was an allover success and it met with good reviews.
