The basic plot of "Thunder Monster" (the main young character afraid of a thunderstorm, and then the fear goes away at the end of the story) was also used on two other cartoons produced by Nelvana, the Franklin story "Franklin and the Thunderstorm" and a story from The Berenstain Bears titled "The Berenstain Bears Count Their Blessings."
Little Bear: I'm Little Bear!
Big Bear: I'm Big Bear!
Little Bear: You're not so big.
Big Bear: You're not so little.
Throughout the thunderstorm sequence in Thunder Monster, the classic "Castle Thunder" sound effect can be heard almost any time lightning flashes. This thunder sound effect was initially used in the classic 1931 horror movie Frankenstein, and has been heard in many movies, TV shows and cartoons (especially those by Disney) up until the 1980s.
