  • "Snakes on a Train" is a good modern tag line for this episode.

Bart is taken advantage of by an Ivy-League-educated scion of a railroad tycoon, twice! This is among the more humorous episodes of the season, featuring a plot that calls to mind Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express". Bart agrees to impersonate the young scion, Cornelius Van Rensselaer Jr., after the young man cleans him out at poker. (Corny even takes his reserve $1K bill!) However, Bart quickly finds that things are not as straightforward as he was led to believe. Naturally, a lovely femme fatale figures into the mix, leading to some of the funniest exchanges of the episode. As is so often the case with this series, themes of class differences and treachery are played out using the backdrop of the historical events of the time. An excellent episode, overall.
