  • A worthy final installment.

This final episode is chock full of the clever dialog, tongue-in-cheek invocations of Western stereotypes, and narrow escapes that makes this series worth watching. In an apparent nod to the classic silent film, The Great Train Robbery, the episode revolves around a shipment of money from the treasury, and various schemes surrounding it. As usual, there is just a single female character, the lovely and conniving Modesty Blaine. She gets Bart into one scrape after another, but she also comes through in the clinch by bashing bad guys with a big stick. You might expect the series to end with Maverick riding into a glowing sunset, but you'd be wrong. It's not that kind of show, and I won't spoil it, but I did think it was a fitting final shot.
