I'll let someone else wax poetic about the "Bonanza" parody and recurring roles. For me the payoff comes from the ladies. Lots of character development, plot twists and catharsis. Cartoony yes, but amusing ... and satisfying.
The three hustlers have to adapt to changing conditions. They interact collectively and they respond individually. They're pawns of various men but work through for their own goals. The boys are stick figures yet become men.
For those who disparage the fifth season this episode demonstrates full use of the opportunity. Bart once again moves the story along while staying in form. Another winner among the last year of the series.
