McCallum becomes determined to solve the mystery when the corpses of two victims and related samples are stolen from the mortuary.

Two bodies are sent to pathology. Although both victims suffered from anorexia, nothing more suspicious is found. McCallum though looks more closely after they are broken into and vital samples are stolen.

As the investigation into Clare's death continues, McCallum finds himself on his own trying to prove his own innocence. When he does find some new evidence, it causes Angela to rethink about the cause of death and that maybe it wasn't suicide after all.

Clare Gilmour has moved on from her stint in pathology and into hospital work. However, when Clare dies suddenly it is revealed that she is pregnant, McCallum finds himself under suspicion when Clare names him as the father of the child in her diary.

First a mutilated body is found in the sewer, then several more turn up all with graze marks and organs missing. McCallum is soon convinced that a serial killer is at work.

McCallum's conviction that Maloney is innocent is confirmed when another victim turns up at the old people's home.

The team tries to find out how McCallum is being slowly poisoned, but cannot find the cause. The killer kidnaps Joanna, and McCallum must try to save Joanna and himself.

A killer with a grudge against McCallum attempts to exact revenge with a combination of poison and threatening telephone calls.

McCallum and Bracken try to track down the source of the lethal bacteria as a number of illegal immigrants die from the same infection. Joanna has also has been infected and is very close to death.

McCallum carries out a post mortem on a young Brazilian prostitute found dead with signs of having been scalded. McCallum finds that she died from a 'superbug' bacterial infection and that she had previously suffered from two drug-induced heart attacks.

With a second death to contend with, McCallum digs deeper to get to the truth of Konrad's supposed accident, but the more he investigates it the closer he gets to the conclusion that the man was murdered.
