    • Spanish Influenza

The Spanish Influenza Pandemic of 1918/9 killed more people than World War I, deaths estimated at between 20 and 40 million. Due to the chaos of the war and the aftermath, a more accurate number of deaths from the pandemic is not possible. Where influenza is usually a killer of the elderly and young children, Spanish Flu was most deadly for people from the ages of 20 to 40. Like the current Bird Flu, Spanish Flu was believed to have evolved from fowl. The pandemic stopped almost as suddenly as it started.
