    Well, perhaps this is bittersweet news. According to this source, Medium will air on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST beginning in early (probably January?) 2009. Of course, that may change between now and then. I'm thankful for a renewal, but can't NBC leave the show in a time slot the really seems to work? If the show does move to Sundays, that will be the 3rd time slot in 5 seasons.

    Then let's hope that Desperate Housewives moves as well, otherwise we're in deep crap. Maybe. But I'm grateful for the new season. Got a little nervous when I heard it might not come back.

    This is great news - 'cause the earlier version (just before the official announcement) released by NBC to TVGuide left Medium off the schedule completely. But up against Desperate Housewifes will be tough!

    Yes, competition against Desperate Housewives will be tough, but that show began shedding ratings in its 3rd season. I think Medium would do better pitted against Housewives because it's a different enough of a show than it's current competition, CSI: Miami. While I realize that Medium and CSI:M are very different, they're of the same genre, and Medium is different enough from Housewives that it might be to Medium's advantage to air opposite it. (?) Time will tell, I guess.

    (sigh) I like the current timeslot. Ah well, whatever. It sounds to me like there's a good chance it could be on right after The Amazing Race, depending on when that comes back. In which case, it's definitely getting DVRed.

    That was only in part to Marcia Cross's departure due to pregnancy. Otherwise, this season Desperate Housewives is back up, averaging 19mil viewers weekly making it the #6 show overall networks. It is higher in ratings than Grey's this year so that has to saw a lot for Housewives rebound. One thing you over looked is the majority of Medium fans are female, not that there are not any male fans but that said Desperate Housewives will be it's toughest competition yet and possibly ever.

    Yes, DH and Medium will probably be a tough face-off because they share a lot of the same demos (18-49, women, etc.) But despite its upsurge in the early part of the season, DH has been dwindling creatively for the last couple of seasons, and its post-strike return last night drew only 16M viewers, a SERIES low. If this trend continues, it may very well be on its way out after next season. I personally would have liked to see Medium (if they MUST move it to Sundays) in the 10pm slot against Brothers & Sisters. They do share a similar audience, but I think Medium skews slightly younger in the demo which would be better for it, plus Brothers & Sisters ratings are about the same as Medium's ratings now, so it would be a pretty even match-up.

    DH returned last night? Huh, didn't even know about it, and I do watch that on occasion (but next year, Medium will win every time, hands down). I do like Brothers&Sisters too, but along with sharing fewer demographics, I think that's considerably less popular than DH, and it hasn't been around as long as Medium. So pitting Medium against B&S would definitely be better - we'll see if networks come to their senses next January, I guess.

    You can not compare a post-strike episode to a show that has been one since the strike began. If you want comparisons compare the Season Premiere of Medium to the Post-Strike DH.

    Hardly a dwindling show if I should say and even though the post-strike return only garnered a 16mil, as eclecticvewer stated she/he even forgot it was returning. With the strike, many people abandoned their tv sets and found other means to get their entertainment, movies, dvds, games etc.

    She/he said the show has been dwindling creatively for the last few seasons. As a fan of Desperate Housewives, I admit I'm growing tired of it. There are these alleged "shocking" episodes that never have any payoff (e.g. "Something's Coming" was the stupidest episode of the series, IMO). The show has yet to recapture the dark, interesting, and creative tone of its first season.

    Also, the show has indeed dwindled the past few years in terms of viewers.

    Season 1: # 4 with 23 million viewers

    Season 2: # 4 with 22 million viewers

    Season 3: # 10 with 17.5 million viewers

    It doesn't look like season 4 is about to recapture any big ratings numbers comparable to those of the first two seasons, does it?

    I'm not posting all of this to dis on DH, I'm merely pointing out the fact that Medium will have tough competition against DH next season, but at least it's not airing opposite DH when it was at its peak a few years ago.
