That's great, though being on CBS means good rating or bye bye.

So I read it'll be aired on Friday. So I guess it won't be a mid season replacement.

Will season six have 22 episodes, then?

I wouldnt worry about the ratings to be honest especially on Friday night and in particular with Ghost Whisperer as a lead-in. I think it's a really good time slot for the show. Ghost Whisperer viewers will bleed in to the show.

No idea about how many episodes CBS ordered though. Right now, I think we should be happy that it's coming back even if it's for just 13 episodes!

This is why CBS is the most-watched network. It's great that it'll be on a network that actually has a vested interest in it. This counterbalances for me their canceling of Without a Trace. I will definitely be watching and will 100% start watching The Mentalist as well and maybe even Ghost Whisperer. I'm also more likely now to look into their other new shows.

I'm just glad that Medium is still going, as it is one of the most realistic, human shows I have ever seen. The fact that it its premise is based in complete fantasy does not deter me from that fact that every other aspect of the show is real, more so than any reality show trash, medical drama or cop show out there. On an unrelated note, the only other two dramas I ever watch are House and Criminal Minds, and I am absolutely thrilled that there is no chance that those two shows would be in a competing time slot with Medium, which would be dissapointing. It sucked during the last few seasons when medium kept vanishing from any lineups, so I would have to resort to the (shudder...) women's channel just to watch it... I am happy CBS is taking over Medium.

Lifetime? (shudder) Yeah. Hopefully once we reach 100 episodes we can get a better syndication deal than that.

I hate to say it, but Medium probably only has one season left in it. CBS is undoubtedly saving it in order to boost its episode tally to 100 so that the production company (also CBS) can make an even bigger profit off syndication. Who knows, maybe syndication dollars will keep it around for years (see According to Jim and most recently Scrubs) but we might only get this one reprieve. Also, most actors have 6 year contracts and renegotiating gets costly. Not to mention the whole series depends on Patricia's involvement. But we'll see. I'm curious how it will do on CBS. It's ratings are low for that network (think about it, NBC canceled it and they're the lowest rated network, CBS is the highest in overall viewers). Still, I think it stands a chance at holding the Ghost Whisperer audience and turning a profit for CBS even with lowi-ish numbers. Here's hoping.

I agree with some of the points you made, but it should be pointed out that NBC did renew the show, but negotiations over episode count are what ultimately caused the show to not be renewed by NBC. Medium is/was one of NBC's better ratings performers, which is why NBC acted like a sore loser when CBS swooped in and snatched it up.

Clem -- you could very well be right, that they're just stringing us along because they really want the "magic" 100 number that's good for syndication. But this most recent season has been the best yet and if they promote it properly and Ghost Whisperer's audience is amiable to the program, then it really does have a chance to do well. In which case, this next season might not be the last.

Seeing as a large part of the reason the show is moving to CBS is because CBS is involved with the production, I imagine the answer on that is yes.
