Thank you for the current ratings info, and especially for researching and compiling the season 4 ratings info! Glad to see that Medium bowed with decent numbers. So long as it maintains healthy numbers that keep it off the chopping block, I'm happy.

I'm upset it didn't do a bit better, especially with the Super Bowl promotion it got. But as long as it does good enough, that's what'll keep it on the air so I guess that has to do.

It beat Heroes. Thats brilliant. I would prefer somewhere around 10 mill, just so it would be completley safe.

How many episodes will season 5 have? I think i read somewhere 16? And if so why? Season 4 had good ratings.

19 episodes this season. It's up from the original 16-episode (I believe) order, so that's actually a plus. It doesn't get a full order since it's a midseason show, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

YAY! I'm glad to see this little bump in ratings!

It's hard to believe that Medium is topping Heroes in the ratings, considering how insanely popular the latter once was. If anything, NBC should look at this and see how solid of a performer Medium is (and has been in its Monday time slot) and treat it better/promote it more. Who knows, maybe season 6 won't be a mid-season replacement....

Yeah, I've actually been giving some thought to discontinuing viewing Heroes (though I'm not ready to abandon it yet), whereas I most definitely don't feel any urge to stop watching Medium.

Last week's episode was actually only 8.97 M viewers. That 9.06M was for the second half hour, which was up from 8.4 in the first half hour, so it averaged out to 8.97 for the hour. Still a pretty good showing considering how little promotion the show gets, and that it was held till mid-season, and is in its fifth season, still going head to head with a ratings monster like CSI:Miami (which is beginning to show a decline in the ratings by the way.) And considering how soundly Medium beat both Heroes and Chuck (by over two million viewers), I hope that NBC is looking long and hard at keeping this show around for another season or two at least. I posted an article about it that has some interesting statistics and neat quotes from Glenn Caron and Patricia Arquette, as well as the president of primetime programming for NBC about the network's plans for the show.

I sadly got to that point a few weeks ago. No more Heroes for me.

It's great that Medium beats Heroes in the ratings...but that's Households, and Heroes still outdoes Medium in Adults 18-49 (the main demo advertisers love) by quite a bit. So...good for both shows then I guess? Oh and Tesser I know this stuff from work so I guess Nielsen would be my source.

I am a little behind/confused. Can someone please explain to me whats the difference between viewers and demos?

    "5.5 Mar 2: 7.28 mil viewers
#2 in viewers for the 10pm time slot"

So did it come in second place for the 10:00 time slot or 3rd? or did it come in second for viewers and third for demos? (Still not sure what demos are or what the difference is between that and viewers, please help!)

Hey shimmybinny. The most-used way to look at a show is its Household rating/share (something like 5.5/10). HH Rating=% of people who watched that show out of everyone who has a TV. HH Share=% of people who watched taht show out of everyone who had a TV on at that time.

Then there's viewers, which means how many people watched it total.

Demo ratings are just a portion of the total viewers, and are used to measure different kinds of appeal a show has (like The CW aims for women 18-34) The adults 8-49 demo is the most important demo though. Advertisers want younger viewers, so shows with low 18-49 ratings (like most things on CBS) aren't as attractive to them. So, if a show got a 15.0 rating, but only a 2.0 in adults 8-49, it's still in some danger of being canceled. Hopefully that makes sense!
