Season 2 Episode 13

Raising Cain

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Jan 23, 2006 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • Goof: When Tyler's mother confronts Allison in the parking lot, Allison has no bag over her shoulder. A few shots later, she has a brown leather bag strap on her right shoulder, then in the next shot it's gone again.

    • Goof: In the scene after Allison dreams that Tyler is the high school shooter, the clock behind shows it is 2:45 (Joe even points this out). Even after 2 and 1/2 minutes pass as Joe and Allison discuss the dream, the clock never changes from 2:45.

  • Quotes

    • Allison: Of course, you're right. You're right.
Joe: (nods) Glad to be of assistance. Joe DuBois - husband, father, moral compass - we never close... (turns out the light to go back to sleep)

    • Allison: It's like all the sweetness, all the innocence I saw in him - it was just gone. Is what I'm saying making any kind of sense to you?
Joe: Uh, I don't know, maybe - it's 2:45 in the morning, nothing much makes sense to me at 2:45 in the morning.

    • Joe: I've decided to join the "let's give Ariel her own room" campaign.
      Allison: You have?
Joe: Yeah, I figure she's going to need a place to stew once she figures out she hates us.

    • Title: Raising Cain

This is also the title of a 1992 movie starring John Lithgow and Lolita Davidovich. It's about a woman who is concerned about her husband's obsession over the upbringing of their daughter.

The title may also allude to the biblical story of Adam and Eve's oldest son Cain, who killed his brother Abel. The mother thought her son was evil.
