  • Josie Bissett

Jane Andrews Mancini (episodes 1-146, 200-227, recurring otherwise)

    8.2
Josie Bissett grew up with a close-knit family in the suburbs of Seattle. In high school, Josie appeared in print ads and teen magazines. At 18, when Josie decided to try acting, her family fully supported her. She moved to L.A. to further her acting career. She started landing extra roles and walk on parts. She was cast in several commercials and music videos.

With credits that include TV guest shots, B-movies, and one soft-core title (Desire [1989]), Josie Bissett was perhaps ideally prepared for the outrageous fictional world of Fox's 1990s primetime soap opera Melrose Place. Though she played a bit part as one of the bandmember's girlfriends in Oliver Stone's biopic The Doors (1991), she mainly worked in B-films as well as TV, including 1950s teen comedy Book of Love (1991), the Playboy model tale Posing: Inspired by Three Real Stories (1991), and the Danielle Steel adaptation Secrets (1992). Josie became a TV star, though, when she was cast as put-upon wife Jane Mancini in Melrose Place in 1992. With its roundelay of affairs and no-holds-barred theatrics (often involving Jane's vile husband Michael and nefarious sister Sydney), Melrose Place attracted a devoted following for most of its seven-year run.

Josie left the series in 1997 and starred as an alluring nanny in the thriller Baby Monitor: Sound of Fear (1997) before returning for Melrose Place's final season in 1998-1999. Josie has been married to actor and Melrose Place co-star Rob Estes since 1 May 1992 (the couple divorced in Feb 2006) and they have two children (Mason and Maya Rose) with whom she currently resides at home with.moreless

  • Grant Show

    Jake Hanson (seasons 1-5)

    8.8
Grant Alan Show was born on Feb. 27, 1962 in Detroit, MI, where his father worked as a local police officer. His parents packed up the family and headed for San Jose, CA when he entered his teens. Show was used to being bullied in junior high, but by the time he attended high school, he was nurturing his wrestling and basketball skills. Despite his athleticism, he never felt part of the popular set and soon found his strongest kinship with the theater kids, alongside whom he took to the stage in productions of "Romeo and Juliet" and "Barefoot in the Park." He studied theater at the University of California, Los Angeles, and upon graduation, was hired onto the then popular ABC soap, Ryan's Hope, which shot in New York City, NY. From 1984-87, he lived in the city while he taped his role as Officer Rick Hyde. During that time, he also made his first Broadway appearance in 1985's The Boys of Winter and cruised onto a two-episode part in ABC's starry-eyed series, The Love Boat.

Show realized Ryan's Hope was not what he was looking for, so he studied acting in England at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts for a year. When he returned and settled in Los Angeles, he went through a frustrating year and a half without an acting job. By 1989, things were picking up. After appearing in series of made-for-television projects such as the sprawling NBC miniseries Lucky (1990), Show found something of a rarity a character that would seep into three different television series. In 1992, he was cast in a multi-episode arc on Fox's long-running teen drama Beverly Hills 90210. Show tantalized audiences and Jennie Garth's character Kelli as Jake Hanson, the mysterious, somewhat older bad boy biker. It was a brief gig, but it landed him a leading role in Coopersmith, CBS' backdoor pilot about a biker-claims investigator. The 90-minute movie did not develop into a series, but Show's 90210 alter-ego Jake rode off into another of Fox's Aaron Spelling nighttime sizzlers, Melrose Place.

In June 1994, Jake put made an appearance on a third series, the pilot for Fox's, Models, Inc, but the show failed to take hold of an audience and was cancelled during its first season. While doing duty on Melrose Place, Show began dating series co-star Laura Leighton (Sydney). Oddly enough, as the show became darker in tone, his character became less of a brooder. Leaving behind the leather jacket, in April 1995, Show got the chance to flex his acting muscles a bit further as William Barret Travis in ABC's western epic miniseries Texas. As Dennis Pitt, Show next toplined Fox's television remake of the romance/thriller Pretty Poison.

Jake Hanson moved out of Melrose Pace for good in 1997, sending Show back to Broadway, appearing alongside Judith Light in the 1999 production of Wit and as the Jim, the Gentleman Caller, in a 2001 revival of The Glass Menagerie. Show then bounced back into television roles, often ones that allowed him to come back more than once including one episode on NBC's Ed in 2000; two on NBC's UC: Undercover, whose pilot he starred on before it was picked up, in 2001; and three on HBO's Six Feet Under in 2002. In 2003, Show had a minor cable hit with Lifetime's Sex & the Single Mom. He quickly switched gears and took a plum part in NBC's Homeland Security, a movie-of-the-week about the impact of the September 11th events on America's national security agencies.

Show's appeal with women was utilized once again in Lifetime's Strong Medicine, in which he portrayed a hospital administrator from 2003-05. Offscreen, one particular lady who found him appealing, model Pollyanna McIntosh, his girlfriend of two years, became his wife. A sure hit with Lifetime's core female audience Grant was cast in More Sex & the Single Guy in December 2004, which aired shortly after in February 2005. Ever the busy actor, a month earlier, Show had been back as a regular on yet another new Fox series, the supernatural chiller Point Pleasant. Instead of charming audiences, he got to frighten them as a sinister stranger who drifts into a seaside New Jersey town. In 2006, Show softened in a guest spot on ABC Family's Beautiful People, acting opposite his old Melrose Place love interest, Daphne Zuniga (Jo).

Suiting up for duty as the hunk once more, Show added more projects to the pipeline. He played the secretly gay actor in a relationship with the brother of editor-in-chief Lucy Spiller on FX's Dirt. In 2007 he was cast in the CBS pilot, Swingtown, a sexy period series revolving around couple-swapping in the 1970's, while awaiting the release of his most terrifying project yet the film adaptation of novelist Jack Ketchum's harrowing domestic drama, The Girl Next Door.moreless
  • Courtney Thorne-Smith

    Alison Parker (seasons 1-5)

    9.2
Courtney Thorne-Smith has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses. After first gaining international attention on the phenomenal primetime soap opera, Melrose Place, she catapulted to further acclaim playing Georgia in Fox Television's Emmy-winning series, Ally McBeal. This fall, she returns to ABC's According to Jim, co-starring Jim Belushi and Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Larry Joe Campbell.

Born in Mill Valley, California, Thorne-Smith first realized her love of acting while performing in her kindergarten production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. She was discovered in high school when 20th Century Fox was searching for a new face to play Charlie Sheen's girlfriend in their feature film, Lucas. Soon after, she was officially bitten by the acting bug; she canceled her plans to attend Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, moved to L.A. and has not looked back since.

Her combination of talent and beauty has enabled Thorne-Smith to build a long acting resume. Other film credits include featured roles in Summer School, Revenge of the Nerds II, Side Out, and Chairman of the Board. She has also starred in several theatrical productions, including Masking, Rainbow, Don't Be Cruel, and Sincerely Confused. But it is her substantial work on television that has produced her most notable recognition. She played Alison Parker for five seasons on Melrose Place, starred in the NBC series Day By Day and had a recurring role as Harry Hamlin's Laker Girl girlfriend on the hit series L.A. Law. She has also appeared in the series Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Anything But Love, and the television films Beauty's Revenge, Tour of Duty, First Flight -- with Beau Bridges -- "Infidelity," and made a guest appearance as the object of Norm Macdonald's desire on Norm.

When Thorne-Smith auditioned with Aaron Spelling for a series pilot about young doctors, Spelling was so impressed that he had six more projects sent to her doorstep the next day. The one that caught her eye was Melrose Place. For her portrayal as the constantly put-upon Alison, TV Guide praised her as "one of the standout stars of (the) glossy ensemble cast -- and the hottest cat ever to scratch and snarl on the sun-scorched roof of Melrose Place."

Thorne-Smith has also donned the hat of professional writer. Having started with a feature article in Self magazine, she has been a contributing editor for that publication and has also written for In and Allure magazines. Last year she was a spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation, Race for the Cure. In support of the foundation, she appeared on the cover of "Special K," "Special K Red Berries," and "Smart Start" cereals.

Thorne-Smith currently resides in Los Angeles where she enjoys relaxing with her dogs, Norman and Ed. George. She spends her free time reading, working out and hanging out with friends.

  • Jack Wagner

Peter Burns (seasons 4-7, recurring previously)

    8.7
Jack was born Peter John Wagner was born and bred in the small town of Washington, Missouri. Jack gained his independent, free spirit at an early age. A direct result was his early passion for the game of golf. There weren't many ten-year-olds out on the greens, but Jack excelled at the game becoming the Missouri Junior Champion as a teen. Though golf was his true love, Jack had a knack for all sports as a member of his high school's football and basketball teams. Jack's outgoing nature prompted one of his instructors to ask him to play Mr. Bumble in the school's production of "Oliver". Despite his new passion for the theater, Jack's heart was on the golf circuit. He got into the University of Missouri with the hopes of capturing a golf scholarship. It wasn't to be. However, Jack found another way to pay for college - the stage. Jack received a full acting scholarship at the university and so began a career. After completing his studies at the University of Missouri and the University of Arizona, Jack packed up and moved to Los Angeles. Within a few days, he was working as a tour guide at Universal Studios. From there, he lived the life of most young actors in Hollywood waiting tables and doing the retail thing. In 1982, Jack won his first professional gig as Brent Masterson on the soap "A New Day in Eden". Soon after, he had a limited run on the "Dallas" spin-off "Knots Landing". Jack's big break came in 1983 when he auditioned for mega producer Gloria Monty to play the supporting role of rocker Frisco Jones on "General Hospital". A star was born. Portraying rocker Frisco Jones not only thrust Jack into the spotlight as an actor, but opened the doors of the music industry for the self-taught guitarist. Jack soon had a record deal with Qwest Records and a #1 AC hit with "All I Need". Jack remained with GH for three and a half years before deciding to return to the theater including national tours of "Westside Story" and "Grease". After a two-year hiatus, he returned to television as GH's Frisco Jones. In 1991, he shook the soap industry by dumping the glitzy world of GH for the role of Warren Lockridge on the critically acclaimed "Santa Barbara". When SB ended, Jack dabbled in theater, television guest shots, and movies before landing the plumb role of Dr. Peter Burns on "Melrose Place", where he remained for five seasons. In January 2000, Jack once again returned to his roots - the stage. Jack landed his first starring Broadway role as the title characters in "Jekyll & Hyde". Jacks' other professional credits include the movies "Moving Target", "Swimsuit", "Play Murder for Me", "Trapped in Space", "Ladykiller", "Frequent Flyer", "Echo", "Dirty Little Secret", "Artificial Lies", "Nowhere to Land", "Trapped : Buried Alive", "Cupid's Prey" and "Ghost Dog". In 2002, Jack took on a new career challenge: interviewer. Jack developed the series "Off Course" for ESPN in which he interviewed athletes, actors and other notable figures during a round of golf. In 2003, Jack again surprised the industry by returning to daytime. Bradley Bell offered Jack the opportunity to develop the character of Dominick Payne on his internationally beloved series "The Bold & the Beautiful". Craving the opportunity to delve into the creative process, while staying close to home, Jack accepted. In 2005, Jack garnered an Emmy nomination for his role on the series. The role on "The Bold & the Beautiful" was also the vehicle to propel Jack back to the music business. Series Executive Producer Bradley Bell saw an opportunity and asked Jack to consider incorporating music into his character. Being that his character was a sea captain and probably had lots of idle time, Jack placed pen to paper and returned to the recording studio. 2005's "Dancing in the Moonlight" marked the release of Jack's first collection of new music in twelve years. When Jack isn't on the set, one can still find him indulging in his favorite pastime - golf. As a member of the Celebrity Players Tour, Jack has gained respect as one of the country's top celebrity golfers. On a more humanitarian front, Jack is also an avid supporter of AIDS research charities and the American Cancer Society. He's served as the chairperson for two AMFAR Boathouse Rock events in New York's Central Park.moreless

Alyssa Milano is the daughter of Italian-American parents Lin, a fashion designer, and Tom, a film music editor. Alyssa was born in a working class neighborhood in Brooklyn and grew up in a modest house on Staten Island.

One day, her babysitter, who was an aspiring dancer, dragged Alyssa along to a an open audition for the first national tour of Annie. But it was Alyssa, not the sitter, who beat out 1,500 other wanna be stage actresses to snag a role. So at the tender age of seven, with her mother in tow, Alyssa joined the tour as July, one of the orphans.

After 18 months on the road, Alyssa, who had begun to garner a reputation as an energetic and charismatic young actress, left Annie to be featured in off-Broadway productions and television commercials.

Then in 1983, at age 10, she landed her breakthrough role on the new sitcom Who's the Boss? as Tony Danza's saccharine sweet daughter, Samantha Micelli, a kid whose native Brooklyn accent rivaled her TV dad's. In order for Alyssa to accept the gig, the Milano family had to uproot and move 3,000 miles to Hollywood.moreless
