  • TRIVIA (2)

    • While talking with Alison, Billy claims that Jake is fragile because all of his girlfriends have "left him when something better comes along." This is a ridiculous statement. Jake and Sandy had only a short relationship based on lust, and he broke Kelly Taylor's heart. Jake and Jo broke up once because of trust issues after the bike shop fire and Jake's violent reaction, and twice because Jake cheated on her. (He may have believed Jo was going to leave him for Richard, but she showed no inclination toward this until after Jake slept with Shelly.) He dumped Amanda to go after Jo, and later broke up with her simply because it wasn't working out. Jake dumped Sydney because she had slept with another man under duress (although she did show some interest in Chris's money, even though she detested him). Shelly stole from Jake and tried to kill him, but didn't leave him for someone else. Jane broke up with him because she was traumatized after being raped. There is really no evidence to support Billy's claim, and it is annoying that the writer of this episode doesn't seem to want to assign Jake the slightest responsibility for the demise of any of his relationships.

    • Jake later tells Alison that the reason his relationships failed is because they were all open-ended. This might be true in several cases, but he and Jo had a conversation in season 4's Blind Ambition in which they specifically agreed to make a commitment to each other.
