Amanda is horrified by the suggestion that she would sleep with someone to achieve professional success. What about during season 4, when Billy became a star in the industry and she slept with him to improve her job security? At the awards ceremony, Amanda makes a big speech about how sleazy and deceptive Lexi is; and everyone who knows her stands and applauds, as if Amanda is such an honorable businesswoman who does everything by merit and never stabs anyone in the back or uses underhanded methods. Please. Would anyone like to run that one by Alison?
Michael: I'm weak in the courtship area.
Jane: You're pretty weak in the relationship area as well.
Michael: But I am really, really good in bed.
Woman: (on Amanda's 'affair') Does her husband know?
Lexi: As many times as she's been married in the last year, who knows?
Amanda: The first line of my speech was to be, 'Thank you, Drew McKenzie.' But if I say that, you'll all think I slept with him. Which, as we all know, is the only way a woman can win this award. Anyway, Drew, this is terrific. But you've got it all wrong with that stuff about integrity and conviction; you should be looking for a woman who can backstab, cheat, and lie as good as the next guy. I'm talking master manipulators, rumor mongers, gossips, and I'm afraid I just don't measure up in those areas. So, I'm gonna have to decline this award, and make sure it goes to the woman who really deserves it. A woman so low that she would stoop to starting a rumor to ruin a person's reputation for no other reason than hey, just for the fun of it. So c'mon everyone, let's put 'em together... for Lexi Sterling. The lowest of the lowest and my personal choice for Businesswoman of the Year.
Megan: (when Jane accuses her of sleeping with Michael) I would have to be brain-dead to make that mistake twice.
While watching Monday Night Football, Michael and Peter complain about its new, earlier time slot. The move to 8 PM EST placed it in direct competition with Melrose Place on the east coast.
The episode title is an allusion to the 1998 film, The Horse Whisperer, starring Robert Redford and Kristin Scott Thomas.
