It is revealed in this episode that Jane's surname is Burns and Sam's surname is Soloway.
Marin: Patrick and I were just discussing the term "carpe diem" or seize the day, an idea so old it comes to us in Latin. Live for today. Don't let opportunity pass you by. Just do it. Which is all well and good, but what happens the day after when you seize the day, wake up, and face the consequences. What do you think? Given the choice, would you rather look or leap?
Marin: Moving to Elmo was one of those seize-the-day moments for me. The thing is, while Alaska is beautiful to look at, I don't spend my days looking. I spend my days living. Like life anywhere, in Elmo there is fighting, and there is making up. There's joy and there is devastation. And once in awhile, amidst all of that, there will be brief flashes where everything just feels right. Serenity. Kind of like a vacation. And, while it's nice to go away, away wouldn't be nearly as nice if you couldn't come home.
(after Patrick's driving lesson)
Celia: All right. What do you think the problem was?
Patrick: No music to accompany my awesome steering?
Celia: No! Hands should be at ten o'clock and two o'clock. I don't need a protractor to tell me your right hand was pushing three forty-five.
Jerome: You really moving into her place?
Buzz: Big mistake.
Jerome: Unless you don't mind living in a giant tampon box. I moved into a gal's apartment once and she had 93 scented candles. I counted them one night to keep from asphyxiating.
Mai: I hear you're trying to get knocked up. You trying to save your marriage or something.
Theresa: I'm sorry?
Mai: Because that's a very bad reason to bring a child into the world. In fact, people who do that end up with children who are very ugly... Clearly, I was wanted.
Cash: Treat her right, man.
Jack: I will.
Cash: Try not to get her upset. If she gets upset, make her put on her robe before she talks to you. She always feels better when she's wearing a robe.
Jack: I'll keep that in mind.
