The note written on the flower card to Annie read, "I'm going to win you back. Love, Patrick."
Sam: Let's drive to Elmo, just the two of us.
Jane: But what about all those great opportunities you'll miss out on?
Sam: The only opportunity I don't want to miss out on is you.
Jane: Thank God. I am so sick of New York.
Marin: There's an old saying, "What you don't know can't hurt you." But is that really true? Or can the things not said today haunt you tomorrow? Everyone knows the truth can be painful. But it can also set you free. It's a risk you take whenever you open yourself up to someone. I, for one, think that honesty is worth it. And who knows? You just might be pleasantly surprised.
Marin: Hey, Elmo! Before we get started today, I want to wish a warm "welcome home" to Patrick. A lot has happened since he left. We all know how unsettling change can sometimes be, especially when we learn something about a person we don't want to know. Can knowing too much be a deal breaker? What do you think, Elmo? In a relationship, is it better to be an open book or is something better left unread?
Marin: What? It's rough, right? I mean, I know I said I was done with my book but it's only the first draft. There's obviously a lot of editing and stuff left to do. Just so you know, you don't have to say that you like it. I can take the truth.
Jack: Good because I think it was amazing.
Marin: You did?
Jack: Yeah. I'm kind of blown away.
Marin: You are?
Jack: I just, I can't believe how much you put yourself out there. It's so honest.
Marin: Well, you kind of have to be. Being open is an essential part of the reader/writer relationship or really of any relationship if you want to get technical.
Jack: Spoken like a true relationship coach.
Marin: Honey, I'm serious. I really do believe that if people would be more willing to air their laundry, dirty or otherwise, the world would be a happier place.
Jack: Oh, I don't know about that.
