    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • When Tom fixes the radio, McCauley hails Earth and refers to his ship as Trailblazer 2. However, later the radio announcers refers to "Colonel McCauley and the ill-fated crew of the Trailblazer 1."

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Jane: You know one thing I've learned, Colonel?
        McCauley: What's that?
Jane: Wives with husbands on the moon shouldn't look up while driving in traffic.

      • Narrator: What you are about to see is not true. It hasn't happened... yet. These are scenes from that story. A story that will happen soon. Just as man experienced his first earthquake, he will one day feel his first moonquake. This is a story of people, people who travel 240,000 miles into outer space to answer the question: what is the moon made of?

      • Tom: Well, that's the news of the world, folks. And we're certainly it. Especially you, colonel.
Bruegel: Yeah, but what are they saying, Tom?
Tom: Tonight the world lies awake, awaiting the news that Colonel Edward McCauley and his brilliant team of scientist-adventurers have landed on the moon. Where they will make a detailed examination of the moon's crust over the next period of seven days. Tom Farrow--that's me--the communications officer, is known to be particularly intrepid.
