      • Narrator: Space and the celestial bodies belong to all Mankind. Not to any one nation. Yet each nation is pushing its space program, looking for its place in the sun. But speed in this race does not always make the winner. This is the story of the men of two nations, working together in an attempt to conquer outer space, and of an experiment which almost brings them to the brink of disaster, when they try to find a shortcut to the universe where the Sun never sets.

      • McCauley: Of course, what I really want to know is how you intend to use that Neptune engine as a second stage.
Sopwith: I take it you don't approve, sir.
McCauley: Well, let's just say that I'm here as an observer and to prove myself useful if I possibly can.
        Sopwith: Very well said, sir.
