    • TRIVIA (5)

    • QUOTES (19)

      • Sarah Parish: Today we are filming my wedding to Uther Pendragon and it's a very important day for Lady Catrina because if she can get through this wedding she will become the Queen of Camelot and then be able to take over the kingdom.

      • Johnny Capps: The great think about coming back to a second series is because the audience knows the characters we can explore those characters in more detail now. And just as we wanted to challenge Arthur with falling in love for the first time we wanted to see a more tender side to Uther. We thought: 'why don't we give him a love interest?' and so we were very keen to see a softer side to Uther, a more romantic side. And then we thought: 'why don't we make his wife a troll (laughs) as you do?' (Laughs). We thought of the world that spinned around Uther falling in love with lady Catrina, this beautiful woman and we can enjoy the fact that this man of high status, this incredibly powerful successful king is being completely jibbed and is falling in love with this hideous farty, snorty troll.

      • Anthony Head: The idea of the wicked step mother I though was great you know? How she would manipulate the children and how she can absolutely get in and mess things up, when actually, she gets in and messes me up (Laughs).

      • Katie McGrath: When we did the read through for the troll two parter Sarah Parish came into the read-through and she was sort of elegant and lovely and she was sitting there and she was reading all the lady Catrina lines and she was… she was like a lady and then there's a point in the script where she is the troll for the first time and she just… she became the troll she went down and she did the voice and the whole room cracked up. It was so unexpected, so out of character, so different to Lady Catrina and at that point we all knew this was gonna be an amazing episode (Laughs).

      • Sarah Parish: Being lady Catrina is lovely because you spend one day as a horrible ugly smelly old troll and the next day you are looking great. The in between troll still lady Catrina is quite hard to do because she looks like lady Catrina but she acts like a troll. She's hunched over and (Imitates the troll's voice) she's got a funny voice like that.

      • Katie McGrath: Between her [Sarah Parish] and Adam Godley who plays Jonas they are the most amazing comic team, I mean Adam was repulsive as the troll sidekick with his tail and his laugh and it was wrong but so right.

      • Sarah Parish: The troll is great fun to play, the full troll when I'm in full prosthetic.

      • Angel Coulby: (About the prosthetic job on Sarah Parish) The make up was amazing. When I first saw her I was like, I'm kind of talking to her but just kind of amazed but this like grotesque make up that she's got on.

      • Sarah Parish: (About the prosthetic job) It takes about two and a half hours in the morning and it's a big, big prosthetic head and a big fat suit and big tusks and contact lenses and a horrible wig.

      • Katie McGrath: (About the prosthetic job on Sarah Parish) It was a long, long process cause I mean I'm always moaning about how much time I spend in hair and make up cause I'm not good at sitting still but usually I'm the first in and when I turned up on set she had already been there for two hours.

      • Katie McGrath: (About Sarah Parish and her troll outfit) It's a suit for costume but the hair piece, when she had that on she couldn't take that off till she was finished so if you see her wandering around in her jeans and flip flops but the troll head, you know? Eat her lunch with the troll her on and what's really funny about this show is that you start taking thing like that for granted, you just don't even see it anymore but she'll be wondering around the location in France and you just see all the tourists like

      • Colin Morgan: You see those kind of troll walking down in the hallway as you're going to get your lunch and you go something like: 'hope she doesn't sit beside me'.

      • Sarah Parish: Hopefully I would say I'm totally unrecognisable and if anybody does say they knew it was me I'll kill them.

      • Bradley James: The fun she had kind of I think really rubbed off from the rest of the cast cause since we were gonna be doing a troll scene there was kind of smiles on people's faces cause you know? We can have a bit of a gig on this one.

      • Angel Coulby: (About Sarah Parish as the troll) And she just plays it brilliantly, I mean even in the read through when she didn't have the make up on she really was this incredibly funny character, this kind of evil smelly troll (Laughs) Not that she smelled in the read through (keeps laughing)I should point out she smelled lovely.

      • Colin Morgan: When I first read the script of the troll part 1 (Laughs) it was like that I was just laughing cause it was so, so different to any episode in first series and in the second series so far. It was purely comic and it was bizarre.

      • Sarah Parish: In programs like that we always think that good will outdo bad and it seems for a long while that bad has outdone good and lady Catrina is actually going to ruin the day but you'll just have to wait and see.

      • Angel Coulby: (About episode 2x06 Beauty and the Beast – Part Two) There's a bit of troll love which is really disgusting but really funny as well.

    • NOTES (5)

      • Sarah Parish found the prosthetic make up and the fat-suit very uncomfortable, heavy and slightly suffocating. The fact that the episode was filmed during a heat-wave in summer made it a challenge. Despite it all, she really enjoyed playing the troll part.

      • The rotten troll food was a mix of apples and pears which were put in the microwave to achieve the texture needed.

      • This episode is shorter than the previous ones, going for half the time of what's been usual so far.
