That smoking bit was really interesting. He's so dedicated that it's kind of insane. I'm a bit narrow-minded when it comes to smoking, so I'm incredibly glad he was able to quit so easily.

Somehow it makes me very proud and happy to see Colin on german TV! Although his dubbing voice is kinda wierd. ^^ Still, it's just fantastic that Colin and "Parked" get the proper recognition even in my sometimes rather ignorant country!

I've been thinking about this lately and need your opinion:

Is Arthur really a friend of Merlin?...

Merlin is a friend to Arthur, no question about that. But is Arthur? Yes, he has saved his manservant's life, yes he cares about him, but sometimes I get the feeling that it's all superficial. Merlin does not really Arthur as a friend, since he does not fully trust him, he's hiding so much from him. Gaius is his friend, Lancelot was, Will was, but Arthur? I don't see it, not in the way true friends are.

What do you think? If Merlin got fed up and left, who would be most upset? Him or Arthur? Who gets the most of this relationship and who the shortest?

    Hmmm...

I think, Merlin would be definitely the one who would get more upset than Arthur in this case, and Arthur is definitely the one who gets most out of this friendship. He does have Merlin's full support, even when Merlin doesn't trust him with his secret. Merlin always stands by his side, whereas Arthur often seems unsure, if he really wants to side with a "servant", even when he says that Merlin is his true and loyal friend. I don't have any doubts whatsoever that Arthur really means it when he says that Merlin is his friend and that he absolutely values their friendship.

I think, the problem is, that Arthur doesn't seem to realise that he himself has to do his part for this friendship, that it only really works both ways. He doubts Merlin more times than it is good for him, and, alas, he still doesn't see him as an equal (in terms of human beings, not the king-servant thing ^^). I don't know why that is that Arthur has these problems to fully commit himself to their friendship, but maybe it's still the different status they have, that he can't allow himself to overlook the fact that Merlin is a servant. Or maybe he just takes Merlin's friendship for granted, without seeing the need to "keep his side of the bargain" (so to speak).

Hope I could make myself clear...
