Bradley really stepped up his acting in this episode. Looking forward to more.

I would love to see him in some long running comedy show, his comedy timing is just spot on.

Call me crazy but the expression "live with fear" has been used several times in the episode in Merlin/Arthur exchanges. Anyone else has the feeling that it might be a wink to "You're the Voice"?

No Smirks of Doom here, and no premonitory dreams either.

I wonder if she should add some other characteristic list for Morgana? Or maybe list of Agravaine's advances to Morgana...? In this episode he holds her hand for a few seconds. In the last he seems to try to kiss her.

Overall - nice episode, maybe the best so far in the show.

Hi wilfeli Yes, I'm well aware that I'm in the minority over this. It is indeed strange how we can reach such wildly different conclusions from the same material. I wouldn't necessarily say it is my least favourite episode so far, although it comes pretty close. I disliked it intensely. But the best, or even 'maybe the best'? I'd just gently suggest 3x13, full of heartwarming, inspiring and genuinely iconic moments To me, the tone and atmosphere of that episode is as different from this one as night is from day.

Really? Which times? I'm blanking on the quotes...

That'd be totally hilarious if it was though.

Bags! I just realized they say "live in fear" and not "live with fear". I think this computes for "You know you are addicted to Merlin..."

    Anyway, here are the quotes:

    Arthur: Will you help me?
Old Merlin: You are asking me to save the life of a man that would have me executed.
Arthur: I know what I am asking of you, you have no reason to help me, but you are my father's only hope. I'll give you anything you ask for... land, gold. Name your price.
Old Merlin: I do not want your gold! All I have ever wanted is that people like me can live in peace. That those who practise magic are accepted, rather than hunted. That is all I ask. That is the price of your father's life.
Arthur: You have my solemn word, when I am King, things will be different. You won't have to live in fear.
Old Merlin: Then... I will help you.

    And

Old Merlin: I am led to believe that the King's palace is that way.
Arthur: I can hardly be seen walking through the main gate with a known sorcerer.
Old Merlin: So you are already going back on your word. You promised that I would no longer have to live in fear.
Arthur: You're forgetting that you are yet to heal my father. When you have, I'll give you everything I promised.

Okay, I'm up for it, since the Smirks are practically gone. So let the new category be "Agravaine's advances on Morgana":

    - He holds her hand somewhat tenderly.

Good, I don't want to find myself filling in any more than I do

Do you mind doing 4x01 and 4x02 too to be consistent? Thanks!

For me nothing could beat 2X05 as being my least favorite episode. And "maybe" is here because I'm torn between 3X13 and this one Story aside I like this one for it's visual beauty, 35mm really makes the difference and acting was superb. It was very interesting to see how they filmed coronation scene, it wasn't what I was expecting, moredisjointedand faster, but I think I can see the reason behind it. Andchangein lighting during the episode, how it goes from bright to gloomy and back to light, supporting this idea that there will be another day.

No problem, Essie, I'll handle it since it's my suggestion

    things that were disappointing:
    - Uther's death (so too many questions stay suspended with no real answer)
    - Gwen telling Arthur that she is caring after Uther just for him, well yes Uther did kill her father, but now he gave his life to save the life of the man she is in love with, this can make her more compassionate, no?
    - in 3 episodes, there was no interaction between Gaius and Uther!
    - they made Arthur look like a dumb, not seeing that merlin is the great dragoon (come on there were lot of signs there)
    - no battle father/daughter..... I wished Morgana to kill Uther face to face!!!!
    - Gwen was all the time cleaning Uther's wound, but suddenly when Agravaine put the nicklace, she didn't notice it!!!
    - Gaius not letting Merlin use magic to heal the king..... why didn't he stop him when it was about the prince!!
    - no knights saying goodbye to their king!!!!
    - burger crown.... no style at all O.o!!!!!
    - in two episodes they killed two main characters!! Lancelot and Uther were my favorite characters, how will I continue with this show now??!!

I m so angry and so disappointed .

Suggestion: Maybe it would be interesting to keep track of every time a person saves someone else's life? It's not *that* common but it's happened quite a few times in S3 so far.

It hasn't been posted for his episode yet. Here you go:

    Episode 4x03 Lives Saved list:
-Uther saves Arthur's life when the Gleeman tries to kill the prince.
-Dragoon saves Uther's life (albeit if briefly).
