Gaius didn't tell him earlier because Morgana kept close to Uther and was still playing her role. Now that she showed her cards, I guess Gaius would feel pretty comfortable with informing him.

I agree that he blocks up, so TPTB may play on that card, but I don't think it would be realistic.

It is very realistic to me, it's a big part of Uther's character. There are a lot of things that are way more unrealistic to me and TPTB seem proud of them much to my amazement.

I dunno, I still think part of why he was shattered was because he figured out she was magical.

However, they did leave it open for discussion, for whatever reason. Maybe to give them space in plotting the next season. I guess we'll have to wait and see in S4, meaning 8 months from now... Maybe some spoilers will reveal the true state of things.

What are those things you found unrealistic and TPTB proud of them?

Too many. The way the reveal has been kept from Arthur, for example

Well, they are half siblings since they are both Uther's chidren. I like their scenes together too, but from now on they are gonna be all but romantical, I'm afraid

Actually, my only real criticism with the last ep of series 3 was that we got no scene between Arthur and Morgana. I was really hoping for a moment where Arthur brings up how they grew up together etc.

    Hopefully in series 4

Ooohh that would have been an epic scene...I don't know if Arthur could have resisted running her though (maybe not on BBC family time) but the possibility for that in season 4 is a very exciting thought...lets hope it happens!

Arthur loves Morgana a lot, it's not gonna be easy for him learning about all the things she's done, especially knowing that she didn't give a toss about his life or Uther's even after knowing they are blood related. He might think she is enchanted/ controlled by Morgause unless Merlin, Gaius or Gwen tell him the truth about her.

Oh dear...someone needs to hit dear Arthur with a blood clue stick! As` much as I hate to think you are correct..he will probably be hard to bring around. Gwen needs to step up and tell him what she knows...then maybe he will be enlightened:-)

That, I wouldn't like (although I'm with you that it's likely to happen). Arthur is grown up enough to keep being kept in the dark, moral compassed and whatnot. It's good to lean on those closer, on those you love, to seek reassurance in hard times, but it's always a bit too much when it comes to Arthur. I hope series 4 makes a difference.

I too was hoping for Morgana and Arthur's encounter! Yeah, he's probably devastated, but what if he actually ventures to save her? Like Luke Skywalker saved his father from the Dark Side? I'm looking out for such kind of repentance for Morgana, even if she is killed in the end.

At the same time, I hope she isn't killed at the end, since in the end she's among those that take care of mortally wounded Arthur and escort him to Avalon. Then again, the show hasn't been taking the legends literally...

Despite it all I don't think Arthur would be able to make an attempt on Morgana's life.

And I hope she doesn't seek for forgiveness (I wouldn't forgive someone who has tried to kill me, my loved ones and all I care about), I want her to be more actively evil yet.

Yeah, I too want her to remain evil, but to feel more and more estranged and desperate, so she breaks and realizes it all wasn't worth it without people she once loved or something like that. Unfortunately that can't be done while Morgause is still there.

Or maybe she could, like Darth Vader, change her sides being overwhelmed by everything.

I'm looking forward to her in season 4!

Yeah, I think she'd break is she finds herself alone. But I believe Morgause is gonna be around and hopefully so will Mordred. And well, there's no shortage of magical people seeking for revenge against Uther.

I also believe Morgause will be around. Actually, I want to believe it! (I sound like a true 'X-Files' fan and proudly so!)

Yeah, and I hope the creepy kid returns, he is such an asset.

But I'm a bit conflicted about it, you see? Because with the strong presences of Morgause and Mordred around I fear Morgana isn't gonna grow up much and develop as a character and will be manipulated as per usual. I don't see her on her own either, I don't think she is strong enough to cope with the moral weight of the choices she's made. Still, looking forward to more Mordred and Morgause and hopefully, TPTB will find a way to fit Morgana in allowing her some good charater development.

Mordred is not such a threat for her character, I think Morgana will be his teacher. But I think it's too early for Morgause to go, she's so amazing, and Morgana still has lots to learn, her magic is still weak, and she doesn't know many spells. She still needs a mentor.

Alvarr used him to manipulate Morgana in 2x11, he might not have very powerful magic yet but still he has a great personal influence over her. Even Alvarr made her do what he wanted using his charm.

Alvarr thought that Mordred will able to master the crystal of Neahtid, so he must be a special little one. But as the Dragon said, Mordred's destiny is to ally with Morgana in evil to bring about Arthur's doom so here is hope it's a 50%-50% alliance.
