    Interesting part from the trailer:

-"Prophecies speak of Arthur's bane. You would do well to fear it for it stalks(not sure for this) like a ghost"

-"Prophecies do not lie. Arthur's bane was real. Once it was known to us, his end was nigh."

I think...but does anyone know what this whole "Arthur bane" thing is about ?

This is just a guess but based on the definition of the word, I think Mordred is Arthur's bane.

I'm with twizzle and I think that all points to Mordred.

I was hoping someone could recognise the voice, thanks all the same But if Morgana has been held captive because she has magic (and hence she blames Arthur etc) it wouldn't make sense for her captor to be Alvarr, right?

I've compared the snippet in the trailer with a previous scene with Alvarr (because I've got nothing better to do this morning ) and it does sound very much alike indeed... So without seeing more than that, I'd say I'm 80% convinced it's him.

Ha! So much so for the spoiler being a hoax then (hopefully). Thanks!

I guess that Mordred has spent the last few years with him then... not good.

... until I'm proved wrong and the 20% come back to bite me in the proverbial backside...

Some sources drawing on the Arthurian legends show Mordred as being Arthur's Bane, see this one for example. I'm not saying we should take this at face value, but these references predate the use of "Arthur's Bane" by Merlin, so it would make sense if it drew its origins from similar sources...

    @AC

When do you hear Alvarr in the trailer... I tried to figure it out myself, but can't hear him.

Nice According to TPTB they are following the legends (with their spin of them as per usual) so that could be an example indeed.

It's supposed to be the 1:09 mark (around-ish), Julia

If you mean the one who says "Prophecies don't lie, once Arthur's bane is known to us, his end is nigh"... that's definitely Liam Cunnigham. The other, darker voice before that I can't identify at all.

I'm sorry but I won't have audio until the pm. I'll try to add my 2cts then. I asked because someone posted in the video comments that someone around the 1:09 mark was Alvarr.

Okay. But I'd say that was just wishful thinking... I've heard Liam's voice so often in recent weeks because of GoT, I'll bite myself ... if I'm mistaken.

I also watch GoT so I think I could recognise him as well. Thanks for adding your bit

It's Liam. Also they've only shot and written up to the middle of the series and TPTB confirmed in the panel that Liam would be in the first 2 episodes. It makes sense for it to be him.

As an aside I absolutely hate everything I'm hearing about the 5th series. And whomever is in charge of the reboot button needs to get their fingers broken.

I agree, that's Liam. The other voice sounds a bit too grave and somewhat a bit too mature to be Joseph Mawle but it could be him or anyone, I can't really pinpoint it.

I thought so. The shape of her head is pretty different though, guess she has morphed as she grew up over those three years

I've got a sneaky suspicion that the hands tied could be Gwen's?? As i'm sure there were some legends that included Gwen being abducted - maybe this time round Morgana abducts Gwen? Very exciting still all the same, i'm sooo looking forward to S5 coming around, shame it can't come soon enough - fingers crossed too for a better quality trailer and bloopers - that'll keep me going a bit more until september!

If you look closely at the hands and the sleeves of the dress, it looks like Morgana. But it could be Gwen, as we don't know for sure

The shelves of the dress look more like something that Morgana would wear to me.
