I can see that there are mixed feelings about whether the BBC should end the series whilst it is all going well or to extend its life... However, I am strongly of the opinion that there is still much more mileage!! Anyhow, I recently created a small petition and encourage those who are like minded to sign up

    Great forum btw

Link to more of ramblings around this topic on my blog (probably too much detail for the forum lol).

"We could've stayed on and made a series six and made lots of money... but it wouldn't have been right. I don't think that's what you need to be aiming to do in life - you need to be creating good things that entertain people and I'm not sure series six would've done that.'' - Bradley James

I don't like what he said. I doubt series six would have been ''boring'' If they wanted, there could have been so many things to show.

I'm sorry to hear Merlin is being cancelled. However, I have missed half of Series 4 and all of Series 5 because Comcast in my area doesn't offer Merlin in HD. As a matter of fact, they may not offer it at all. And, it's not available on Hulu. Perhaps if the entertainment companies weren't so heavy-fisted protecting their IP, then Merlin would have a wider audience and stay afloat. I refuse to watch standard definition programming, even for Merlin. I guess I'll wait for Series 4/5 to be out on netflix. I'm jealous that y'all get to see it. This is one program I have missed! I'm sure it's been awesome!

Do you mean the BBC? The reason only people from the UK can watch BBCiplayer is because people in the UK don't have a choice whether they they pay for BBC of not, not if they want to watch their TV. If you're paying for TV then you have no choice but to pay the BBC as well. So it's only people in the UK that can watch stuff for free on the website. I'm pretty sure people would get sort of bitter if that wasn't the case. I understand though, I can't watch anything on Hulu or any number of other American sites, The WB, USANetwork etc and pretty much any official American channel site, (sometimes you can see trailers etc but you can't watch episodes) because I'm in the UK. I think it's the same for anyone not in the right area.

Why though? It's not like it makes a massive difference. No offense meant but that's sort of like refusing to watch anything that's not in 3D because it's not in 3D, you'll miss out on tons of absolutely awesome stuff for no reason. Do you not watch anything that came out before a couple of years ago then?

A little trivia: how many times has Morgana been called Morgana Pendragon since "The Crystal Cave?"

    Answer: At least 5.

Once by Geoffrey in "The Coming of Arthur Part I."

Once by Annis in "His Father's Son."

Once by Gauis and once by the Dochraid in "With All My Heart."

Once by Arthur in "The Drawing of the Dark."

If anyone knows of any instances that I missed, feel free to add them!

The Dochraid also calls her Morgana Pendragon in Lancelot du Lac

Sindri calls her Morgana Pendragon in A Lesson in Vengence

Alator calls her Morgana Pendragon in Secret Sharer

Hmm, not sure if there are more. It amuses me how she's basically an outlaw but people also still call her Lady Morgana.

Thought I'd put this here since BM said it might be OK. If not, BM, then just move or delete it. Wink

On the subject of Arthurian legend, I've read Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon, T.H. White's The Once and Future King, and the first two volumes of Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Chronicles (the library doesn't have the third book, sadly Frown). I'll post my thoughts on each telling later.

And not to toot my own horn, but I have written a book called Pendragon Tales: Alexander of Britain, covering Arthur's early life and the first years of his reign through the eyes of his cousin Alexander (who is my own creation). A sequel, Rising Storm, is currently in progress with a tentative publication date of January 2013, and will be followed by a third book, tentatively titled Showdown at Camlann.

If this is wrong place just let me know

I wonder what the BBC's Saturday night replacement will be and especially whether it will be geared at the same kind of audience. Of course there is Doctor Who (a little too sci-fi for my liking) but I mean something of a similar 'swords and sorcery' genre, much like Robin Hood was. I didn't watch it properly - I've seen one or two episodes repeated on Watch but it seems like something that should appeal to a similar fan base so I think I might give it a watch.

    ---

I was going to ask about whether we would create some new 'rewatch' things (I wasn't reading this forum when they were on) including series 5 etc but I'm not sure I have the will to rewatch after seeing the ending... So this isn't a suggestion for it - just a little bit about how I feel
