This episode did more to reveal the backstory of a single charater (Pickles) than the sum of the other episodes. I suspect that there will probably be other episodes devoted to a single band member in the future, but for now the geeks among us will pour over every detail of the other episodes to put together a biography of every character and blog away for hours about any inconsistancy that may arise. Of particular interest to me, as I am from the Chicago area, was the reference to the "Thirsty Dolphin"-a club that "Snakes and Barrels" would play regular gigs at. Until a few years ago there was a club called the "Thirsty Whale", that everyone who was ever in any metal band in Chicago played at least once in their career. You may have guessed that I played the club myself-it is references such as those that make the show endearing to fans.moreless
  • Most of the previous episodes were about the whole band, which makes this one weird.

This episode is mainly about Pickles and his old band. I liked the previous episodes where it was about the whole band, but this time it's about Pickles and how the band reacts to not having him. I found Pickle's old band annoying. They weren't great characters, and you don't hear them enough to get a good feel of them.

As always, though, there is a good song, a really funny one-liner from Nathan, and a goverment consperiacy. The song wasn't as good as the other ones, but still good. I particullarly didn't like the ending, it was more than a little weird. The song at the end was funny though. (I believe I'm a chicken!)moreless

    • The documentary at the beginning of the episode details an account from Pickles' early career when he first bought a guitar. However in both bands he has been involved with, he has never played guitar. In Dethklok he is the drummer and for Snakes 'n' Barrels he was the lead singer.

    • Song: Water Horsey Blues (Snakes 'n' Barrels song)

    • Goat can be seen briefly in the audience at the Snakes 'n' Barrels reunion concert. This marks his third appearance in the series.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Skwisgaar: Hey Pickles, maybe you could favor us with some makeups tips since you were such a beautiful woman back then.

    • TV Announcer: Apparently, Snakes N' Barrels were given psychotropic drugs that have erased their minds except for Pickles who the drugs had no affect on what so ever...
Pickles: I grew up smokin' government weed everyday. You know, I had kiddie Glaucoma. Don't ask me. I'm immune to just about everything.
TV Announcer: The recording of that night's concert event has rocketed through the charts, and is being called the most brutal album of all time.
Nathan: Most brutal album, huh? Uh, I hate to say it. They're right. It's an amazing album. Congradulations, Pickles. This is so chilling.
Murderface: What a great way to go out too. I only hope we can end that way...clawing our eyes out...throwing up acid blood.
Toki: I officially take backs whatever I say about Snakes N' Barrels. You're amazing.
Skwisgaar: This music is likes potato chips. i can'ts stops listening to it. Plays it again.
      Pickles: Alright...

    • Pickles: (to his Snakes 'n' Barrels bandmates) Okay, I know you're all sober now, and I can totally respect that, so I'm going to resist the urge to do drugs and drink around you. I will still do them, but I will excuse myself and go to a different room.

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Mystery Science Theater 3000

During the credits, the bassist of Snakes 'n' Barrels (while under the influence of the drug) can be heard making the statement, "I'm aware of my tongue!" to which the drummer responds, "Oh no! I also am aware of my tongue!". This could be a possible reference to a discussion by Crow T. Robot from the cult television comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000. The show is essentially about a man and his robot sidekicks who are trapped on a satellite in space and forced to watch bad b-movies (usually science fiction). They always comment out loud to the movie and engage in banter amongst themselves to pass the time and to make the experience more bearable. Crow once remarked during one such discussion that people should not be aware of their tongues because "they're just sittin' there in your mouth, all day, all night...".

    • LSD

The hallucinating bassist of Snakes 'n' Barrels can be heard saying, "I'm a chicken" several times during the end credits as he morphs into an actual chicken while still retaining his own human head. This is a reference to an early U.S. government propaganda health film allegedly demonstrating the effects of LSD. In the film a teenager believed he was a chicken after being given the drug.

    • Guns N' Roses

Both the name and the band members of Pickles' first band, Snakes 'n' Barrels parody Guns N' Roses. It is also notable that both bands are based in Los Angeles, California. The bassist has the same trademark top hat and clothing worn by Slash who was the lead guitarist for the band's original lineup. During the concert, Pickles has the appearance of frontman Axl Rose and the other members appear to be parodies of Tracii Guns and Izzy Stradlin. The song "Water Horsey Blues" which they play is a parody of "Garden of Eden" from the 1991 album Use Your Illusion I. Yet another reference can be heard by the hallucinating bassist stating "...little civil war soldiers licking on my skin..." during the credits. "Civil War" was a hit single from the Guns N' Roses album Use Your Illusion II.
