Mexicali Rose is a film directed by George Sherman and released in 1939.
Gene Autry, playing himself, is a freshly-hired radio singer who learns
that his new bosses are corrupt oil executives whose shady dealings
include pilfering funds from a struggling orphanage. Incensed, Autry
takes matters into his own hands. With the help of the charming Frog
Millhouse (Smiley Burnette), Autry saves the orphanage and teaches his
former bosses a harsh lesson they won't soon forget.
